Mar. 12th, 2007 12:40 pmRoger, you don't lose in the first round. Generally. You haven't for two years. But the tournament I decide to work my weekend home around, on the basis that there was a good chance you'd be in the semis and the finals...
Andy, if you lose too then the pair of you owe me the price of my train ticket. This is the only tennis I'm going to get to see until May. Actually, probably more like June. I give you one little tournament to get to at least the semis of Roger and what do you do? Yeah. Useless.
*sighs* I was looking forward to watching tennis again but everyone I would've liked to watch is out except Andy. At least he's got a good chance of winning now; that'd make up for a lot.

Fanmix yay!
Feb. 7th, 2007 01:34 pmSo I finally got around to finishing that Andy/Roger fanmix I started weeks ago. And only the first song and the sixth are the same. Figures.
So. Fanmix! :) Sorry some of the songs are .wma instead of .mp3. :-/ Hope it's not a problem for people. It's based around the relationship beginning and... well, hopefully it'll speak for itself. I think there's a fic in it, somewhere. One day.

( Tracks, lyrics and links to download )
Zip file on FileSend
Zip file on sendspace
EDIT: Ah-hah, spotted the first cock-up. I made a last minute switch of 08. and 10. but forgot to switch it in the zip files. I r smrt. So Painted on my Heart should be 10 and Going Down in Flames 08.
Stay tuned for the next mistake I find.

Oh Murray. You did so much better than I expected you to and you deserve many cookies. Though not if Nadal gets to the final, because it's too early in the year to start the Roger-Rafael thing already, it really is.
... I just realised I'm assuming Roger will make the final. *winces* Sorry Fate. Don't come back to bite me on that one. (Unless it's Andy who beats him, in which case rock on!) Speaking of Andy, he and Mardy aren't playing an evening match, meaning I don't get to watch. 'scuse me while I sulk fittingly over that.
... *ten years later* Okay, I'm done. Maybe I'll get the Roger/Andy-Roger/Mardy-Someone/Someone semi before we leave for Coventry Friday night, to make up for it.
I'm leaving to go to yoga in about twenty minutes.Hour and a half of yoga. I'm starting to wonder if it was such a good idea.

Because the thought had occurred to me.
Jan. 21st, 2007 03:23 amOn Lancaster: "The sweeping drive that enters the university campus passes a duck pond, with its attendant 'duck crossing' sign. Apparently, this sign has been dug up and stolen by students multiple times to show off in their front rooms." - from here.
It is a very cool sign.
I'm googling Lancaster in search of more info on the rumours of Pendle's imminent demise, to distract myself from the fact that yelling at Andy's live scores does not, in fact, make him play better. Though not for lack of trying.

Jan. 20th, 2007 05:40 pmLET IT DIE, FOR THE LOVE OF SMEG.
Honestly. No wonder our April Fool worked so well last year; we had the entire damned world's media backing us up.
(Just a note; if they ever did come out and confirm it? I would never watch tennis again. Ever. Or, you know. Andy ever and everyone else for a long time.)

Jan. 19th, 2007 12:10 pmAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
*breathes*
I watched the whole thing from my bed and spent at least half of it hiding under the covers. Spent the entire final tie-break under the covers, hands over my ears, singing "Lalalalalala" because I couldn't stand to watch and then because it seemed to be helping.
Wow. Just-- wow.
I should really go get dressed now, since S is visiting from Coventry and will be here any minute. ^_^
He did it. Only, I promised him Roger smut if he did. Um. Hm.

Cruel and unnatural boy that he is.
Jan. 15th, 2007 02:48 amSometimes I like to think Andy just likes to break me into tiny little pieces before pretending he's suddenly remembered he finished Idiot Rehab last summer. Like to think, because that means it's all planned and I don't have to hide quite so far under my desk or gibber quite so loudly at every break.
Idiot Rehab. He should totally invent that;most of all the players on tour would need to call in every now and then.
On related topics, I think they should stop giving Roger people to play in the early rounds. It's cruel. Instead they should make him wrestle bears or climb Ayers Rock using his teeth or something. I love the smug git to pieces but it's shooting fish in a barrel now.
That said, I want that purple Nike t-shirt he was practising in because *pretty*. No matter how deep I am in my current obsession with greens, purple will always be my first love.

Jan. 13th, 2007 08:09 amAndy! Finally. The result I've been hoping to see every time I check for the last two and a half years. :D Now, if he can just work up to doing it at Wimbledon...
Worth getting up early to see that result, but the real reason I got up early is staring me in the face with the stack of books on my desk. >_< I have to work today. All day. Banned from Livejournal until tonight.
*sighs* Off to do that then.

Sep. 10th, 2006 10:34 pmOkay, I love Roger to pieces. I love that he came out in that gorgeous black monogrammed jacket-fleece-whatever and that he's been in all the Slam finals and that he had a Beanie Baby sitting in front of him during his press conference.
However, I'm LOVING Andy hitting some of these shots past him. Loving like you wouldn't *believe*. He's making Roger look slow and he's the one person in the world who can do that and I'll find it funny. I would give anything for Andy to win this but it's enough that he's making a match of it. Almost more than enough.
I knew this would be my favourite match of the year. (And if anyone tells you I doubted it quite a bit when Andy lost that first set? Liars! Liars I say!)
^________^
edit: Alright is it just me or is Andy not playing so nice? Subtly of course but...
Suuuuuuuubbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbtttttteeeeeexxxxxxtttttttttttt.
edit: YES. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.
Andy/Roger finals? Better than crack. SERIOUSLY.
[/end capslock abuse... for now]
edit: Cannot watch. Heart breaking. Deliberating hate!fic when my muses eventually return. It's like watching a puppy get kicked and not being able to stop it.
(I also owe the person who invented 'bollocks' as a swearword royalties by now.)
edit: Well it ended the way I suspected it would and I'm a little heartbroken and a little happy and a lot proud of Andy. And DEAD FROM SUBTEXT. Because c'mon. It was so there.
Not in the least happy about one tiny, semi-related thing. Not at all. What to do about it? No idea. I just know I'm not happy and that's bad, when I've had my favouritest thing in the world -- yes, including chinese food and my dissertation -- for the first time in the year. I should be bouncing off the walls.
...
Okay, so I'm doing that anyway. No matter who won, it was always going to be awesome.

Sep. 9th, 2006 11:24 pmHe WON. And Roger won and they BOTH WON which never happens but when it does is beyond FANTASTIC. This day is fantastic and awesome and they both *won*, I can't believe it. I get my favourite final ever and Andy's actually playing well. It's perfect. I love this day so much.
I knew wearing my lucky socks would be a good move. :D
edit: Oh and hey flist. S'up? :D
edit: Oh and in a post-match interview, Roger said 'on the trot' which cracked me up. Britisms all the way!

Jul. 1st, 2006 09:26 pmOh, a weekend of unpacking just caught up with me. >_< Crikey, moving house is hard work, even when it's not your house. Gonna have to have a shower and cold drink before I think of going near MSN so
lossi,
kindoftrouble, I'll be a little while longer if I make it before I fall asleep.
Have Keyboard of Awesomeness. This however, does not console me for Andy. I do love Murray but Andy needed this so much more right now. Straight-*fucking-sets. I never even saw it coming. Part of me is and always will be convinced it's karma coming back to bite me for cheering when we heard England lose over the radio, because literally a minute later they went to Wimbledon to announce Murray had won the first set. I sincerely and utterly apologise for my World Cup attitude. I should've known better than to tempt karma because she never, ever lets me get away with it. Dammit. Now I have no idea who I'll see on Monday but they've got what, Murray and Roger playing and if
kindoftrouble gets both of them on Centre Court then I may be murdering her and stealing her ticket. I'm sure she'll understand. ;-)
So, yeah. A little depressed, a lot tired but I'm heading southwards to
wolves8's tomorrow and then Wimbledon Monday and we're having dinner with
kindoftrouble in the evening, so. Life is not bad for me right now. I wish I could say the same for Andy Roddick. :(

Apr. 15th, 2006 11:10 amPoor Andy. :( He probably could've done with the win right now. Still, at least it wasn't straight sets and I like Tommy enough to be happy that he won and that he gets to play Mardy next round. Just would've been nice to see Andy get that little bit extra good karma going his way this week. Now I wish we got to see Tommy vs Mardy because, cute.
Also?
kindoftrouble and
lossi were being mean to Roger last night. *sadness* I know he tries too hard sometimes and it's frustrating that he pays more attention to his money than to his tennis and bizarre that he's utterly, totally obsessive about Prada but I love him down to his little Prada socks and I'd much rather have a #1 who tries too hard to be nice than one who doesn't try at all, or who's an asshole or who runs over fluffy bunnies in his Porshe for fun. Andy can be as exhausting as a two year old and Marat kept on playing on his bad knee ad infinitum and everyone else on tour will, at some point, do something stupid or say something 'wrong' or be a jerk. So Roger knows he is that good, big deal. Maybe he knows it because he is that good and if he went around saying "No honestly, I just have a lot of good days and some fluke shots, I'm no better than anyone," someone would've punched him for the sheer, pointless humbleness by now. Probably me. He's never rude, he's makes an effort to be nice to everyone and their extended family even if it comes across as a little fake sometimes, which frankly says more because it means he's making the effort even when he *doesn't* want to, and I love that him being so far ahead is making some of the tour do backflips to catch up. It's making tennis better as a sport, and he gets cookies for that.
And I'll still be happy if he wins Wimbledon this year, even if he beats Andy to do it. Of course I may not make it out of Tennis Party with
kindoftrouble and
lossi *alive* to tell you that I'm happy about it but I would be.
That...that just kind of turned into a rant. Um. Oops.
No comment on Murray sacking his coach. Other than the Times suggested Brad Gilbert as a replacement and Murray don't even think about it. You're enough of a nutter right now.
Teenagers. I miss being one.

Jan. 11th, 2006 11:48 amI really should not be proud of myself that I've merely managed to write and email a 300 343shutup word review before 12pm, because that's *it*, that's *all* I've done, including getting dressed and having breakfast. Mmm, breakfast. I think I've also managed to melt my brain with around 15 episodes (out of twenty six, not so bad) of Ghost in the Shell:SGA watched over about twenty four hours but it's that good melt, where the goo that remains thinks it might have to go out and acquire some more anime when it manages to resolidify itself. Not that I need more things to take up my time but hey, why waste time? Procrastinate now!
Roger lost. I'm considering those words from all angles with detatched curiosity. Roger. Lost. I've realised that it actually *does* matter who he loses to though, since I was much more upset when he lost to Nalbandian. I like Tommy, even if he did butcher his ponytail in horrible ways and it'll be interesting to seeAndy who wins this now but... Roger lost. He didn't even put up much of a fight from the look of the scores. Fascinating.
Also, yes, upsetting but hey, Andy won. If Andy's in the final now then I will kick Fate into next week for stealing our Roger-Andy final from us but right now, I'm lost in that comfortable detached state of boggling. Roger. Lost. Hhhmmm.
Where o' where has

Random TV listings search wins again.
Dec. 27th, 2005 12:46 amEurosport is showing highlights from the Roger/Marat semifinal at last year's AO at 11am tomorrow. This is most excellent since I didn't have the DVD recorder then and don't have any, of what was possibly *the* best match of this year, on DVD. Whee, random TV searches!
Somehow my brain has not been working lately. I'm behind on *everything*, shame. I blame having a TV with more than five channels again. Must make the effort to start catching up soon, considering I need to finish Jane Eyre, start Middlemarch, watch most/all of the Ghost in the Shell DVD box set to review it for the paper, not to mention the Christmas fic I'm still working on. Hhhmm, suddenly the need to get organised is more than me sitting here muttering "Must do stuff. Really soon. Honest." I'm so glad I'm going back to Lancaster early, maybe I'll get some work done.
I figured out why my DVD recorder has been messing the aspect ratio of *everything* it's recorded this year -- there was an extra setting, other than the two I'd already set to widescreen, that needed to be changed to widescreen too. The lesson in this, with my slightly squished tennis DVDs, is to read the instructions and not dismiss them as a pointless waste of paper. Really. The people who wrote them probably at least vaguely knew what they were doing.
I'd better go write some fic before I fall asleep. How my entire flat coped on around five hours sleep every night last year baffles me, because we certainly can't do it this year. Must've gone soft over the summer.
Using this icon because
kindoftrouble reminded me of it. Mmmmm. I hope we have many more moments like it next year.
edit: The latest article on Andy's website is very... reassuring I guess. The amount of times I've screamed at the TV this year wanting him to be more aggressive are too many to count. All he has to do is follow through with it. 2006 *needs* to be better for tennis than the last few months have been and Andy fighting back more, now *that* will make it better. It'd be fantastic to see him at least putting pressure on Rafa for #2 sometime this year.
Other, bizarre late-night finds, why do Audi have an entire Sky channel to themselves? They aren't that special, are they?
edit: Oh and I'm not going to go through what I got for Christmas because I'm really not that interesting -- English student here, I asked for Stephen Fry's book on how to write poetry which should should tell you everything you need to know about me and christmas presents -- but I do have to squee over my brother being awesome and getting me the first two Sandman books, graphic novels, comics, whatever you want to call them. He'd said he couldn't find the first one a few weeks ago but apparently his girlfriend found it at the last minute, so I'm squeeful. :D Yay, Gaiman! People've been telling me to read them for years, I'm quite ashamed that I'm only just getting round to it.
Also got the most insane watch. Will post a picture of it tomorrow, because it has to be seen to be believed. :D
