Poor Andy. :( He probably could've done with the win right now. Still, at least it wasn't straight sets and I like Tommy enough to be happy that he won and that he gets to play Mardy next round. Just would've been nice to see Andy get that little bit extra good karma going his way this week. Now I wish we got to see Tommy vs Mardy because, cute.

Also? [livejournal.com profile] kindoftrouble and [livejournal.com profile] lossi were being mean to Roger last night. *sadness* I know he tries too hard sometimes and it's frustrating that he pays more attention to his money than to his tennis and bizarre that he's utterly, totally obsessive about Prada but I love him down to his little Prada socks and I'd much rather have a #1 who tries too hard to be nice than one who doesn't try at all, or who's an asshole or who runs over fluffy bunnies in his Porshe for fun. Andy can be as exhausting as a two year old and Marat kept on playing on his bad knee ad infinitum and everyone else on tour will, at some point, do something stupid or say something 'wrong' or be a jerk. So Roger knows he is that good, big deal. Maybe he knows it because he is that good and if he went around saying "No honestly, I just have a lot of good days and some fluke shots, I'm no better than anyone," someone would've punched him for the sheer, pointless humbleness by now. Probably me. He's never rude, he's makes an effort to be nice to everyone and their extended family even if it comes across as a little fake sometimes, which frankly says more because it means he's making the effort even when he *doesn't* want to, and I love that him being so far ahead is making some of the tour do backflips to catch up. It's making tennis better as a sport, and he gets cookies for that.

And I'll still be happy if he wins Wimbledon this year, even if he beats Andy to do it. Of course I may not make it out of Tennis Party with [livejournal.com profile] kindoftrouble and [livejournal.com profile] lossi *alive* to tell you that I'm happy about it but I would be.

That...that just kind of turned into a rant. Um. Oops.

No comment on Murray sacking his coach. Other than the Times suggested Brad Gilbert as a replacement and Murray don't even think about it. You're enough of a nutter right now.

Teenagers. I miss being one.

edity: The Times just redeemed itself in ****ing awesome style.

*Snuggles Andy* He got distracted by the prettiness of Tommy. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it. Well that and he didn't convert crucial break points.

As for Roger: It ain't arrogance if it's true. And in Roger's case him being the best out there now, is very true. I find his Prada obssession funny though. What did he say anyway?

No Murray. Stay the fuck away from fucking Brad Gilbert.

Hehehe, I actually thought of you the other day as I was going through an old magazine from about four years ago (a Women's Sport's Illustrated...their swimsuit edition) and came across pictures of both Andy and Marat.

Much though one hates to disagree with her what does most of the posting, I've always preferred it when sportspeople who are good at what they do come out and say it. But then again, I think false modesty is bloody annoying and I'm a Schumacher fan so I might not be best placed to say anything.

Just read the edit

The writer of that article is Simon Barnes, the world's greatest sports writer and one of the better journalists working right now full stop. He rocks.

Fiona, who has been known to buy the Times just for his articles.

*pets Andy* He could've used the confidence booster, but he should get his ass to Monte Carlo! *pokes him* *grin*

As for Roger, I love the way he is. He is nice to everybody and he's actually getting cockier, which says to me that people have gotten on him about all the modesty. Though truthfully, I don't know that it's cockiness so much as pure confidence. There's not many people in tennis right now who can touch him. He is the best on court right now and he can play extremely well on all surfaces. He's not a one trick pony like some of the guys now are. Rafa is probably the only exception and really, we don't know how well he'll do on grass because last year, he didn't do so hot but he's young still so... anyhoo, yes, Roger is confident enough that he really doesn't have to worry about changing his game. Why should he? He plays better than everyone. And wheee for ranting. *kicks self* Didn't mean to. Sorry. :-)

Brad Gilbert as a replacement? Are they fucking insane?! *kicks them* Though the edit... heeee. That was fun to read.
