Okay, I love Roger to pieces. I love that he came out in that gorgeous black monogrammed jacket-fleece-whatever and that he's been in all the Slam finals and that he had a Beanie Baby sitting in front of him during his press conference.

However, I'm LOVING Andy hitting some of these shots past him. Loving like you wouldn't *believe*. He's making Roger look slow and he's the one person in the world who can do that and I'll find it funny. I would give anything for Andy to win this but it's enough that he's making a match of it. Almost more than enough.

I knew this would be my favourite match of the year. (And if anyone tells you I doubted it quite a bit when Andy lost that first set? Liars! Liars I say!)

edit: Cannot watch. Heart breaking. Deliberating hate!fic when my muses eventually return. It's like watching a puppy get kicked and not being able to stop it.

edit: Well it ended the way I suspected it would and I'm a little heartbroken and a little happy and a lot proud of Andy. And DEAD FROM SUBTEXT. Because c'mon. It was so there.

Not in the least happy about one tiny, semi-related thing. Not at all. What to do about it? No idea. I just know I'm not happy and that's bad, when I've had my favouritest thing in the world -- yes, including chinese food and my dissertation -- for the first time in the year. I should be bouncing off the walls.

Okay, so I'm doing that anyway. No matter who won, it was always going to be awesome.

Me too. He kept up with the best Roger could throw at him for almost two sets and there are so few people who've done that. He's back and it's fantastic.

He's ranked third again too. *grins* All is right with the world.

Yeah sets two and three were quite awesome seeing how Andy actually won the second set and the third was so tense.

He got tired at the end but oh well.

Interesting how they both took a bathroom break together. And Andy changed his shirt again ;). Such subtext.

If he'd held his concentration just a little longer and taken the third to a tie-break, I think anything could've happened. I believed all the way through that set he could win it, even win the match. Against *Roger*. It was unbelievable. :)

He did but he threw so much into the second and third sets and he hasn't had a lot of good playing time this year really. IHe's made me believe he can beat Roger sometime in the not-overly-distant future though. ^_^

I missed that completely! (I was flipping channels everytime Andy was losing out of nerves.) Was it between sets sometime? I found so much subtext even without that. I think *something* was going on under the surface, even if it was as simple as the tension of facing each other for the first time in a year. :)

Yeah it was after the third set. I saw them both return on court and the announcers explained what happened.

Seriously, it's getting obvious now and with Andy saying things like THIS:

"I think his movement's underrated, and what he can do with his hands is unparalleled." What are we supposed to think?

I'm not as depressed as I was in '04 (ie not running around yelling things like: "I HATE SWITZERLAND AND RAIN AND SWATCH AND ROLEX AND SWISS CHEESE!!!!!!!") cos I'm just so happy to see Andy there where he belongs as Roger's Official Bitch as the #2 to Roger's #1.

And he played great too. :D

I'm surprisingly happy with it. :D After the year he's had, it's more than enough to see him push Roger as hard as he did for two sets. The world of tennis is back the way I like it and it's awesome.

He really did. :D
