Eurosport is showing highlights from the Roger/Marat semifinal at last year's AO at 11am tomorrow. This is most excellent since I didn't have the DVD recorder then and don't have any, of what was possibly *the* best match of this year, on DVD. Whee, random TV searches!

Somehow my brain has not been working lately. I'm behind on *everything*, shame. I blame having a TV with more than five channels again. Must make the effort to start catching up soon, considering I need to finish Jane Eyre, start Middlemarch, watch most/all of the Ghost in the Shell DVD box set to review it for the paper, not to mention the Christmas fic I'm still working on. Hhhmm, suddenly the need to get organised is more than me sitting here muttering "Must do stuff. Really soon. Honest." I'm so glad I'm going back to Lancaster early, maybe I'll get some work done.

I figured out why my DVD recorder has been messing the aspect ratio of *everything* it's recorded this year -- there was an extra setting, other than the two I'd already set to widescreen, that needed to be changed to widescreen too. The lesson in this, with my slightly squished tennis DVDs, is to read the instructions and not dismiss them as a pointless waste of paper. Really. The people who wrote them probably at least vaguely knew what they were doing.

I'd better go write some fic before I fall asleep. How my entire flat coped on around five hours sleep every night last year baffles me, because we certainly can't do it this year. Must've gone soft over the summer.

Using this icon because [livejournal.com profile] kindoftrouble reminded me of it. Mmmmm. I hope we have many more moments like it next year.

edit: The latest article on Andy's website is very... reassuring I guess. The amount of times I've screamed at the TV this year wanting him to be more aggressive are too many to count. All he has to do is follow through with it. 2006 *needs* to be better for tennis than the last few months have been and Andy fighting back more, now *that* will make it better. It'd be fantastic to see him at least putting pressure on Rafa for #2 sometime this year.

Other, bizarre late-night finds, why do Audi have an entire Sky channel to themselves? They aren't that special, are they?

edit: Oh and I'm not going to go through what I got for Christmas because I'm really not that interesting -- English student here, I asked for Stephen Fry's book on how to write poetry which should should tell you everything you need to know about me and christmas presents -- but I do have to squee over my brother being awesome and getting me the first two Sandman books, graphic novels, comics, whatever you want to call them. He'd said he couldn't find the first one a few weeks ago but apparently his girlfriend found it at the last minute, so I'm squeeful. :D Yay, Gaiman! People've been telling me to read them for years, I'm quite ashamed that I'm only just getting round to it.

Also got the most insane watch. Will post a picture of it tomorrow, because it has to be seen to be believed. :D

Wait, Ghost in the Shell movies? Or S.A.C.?

S.A.C. I got the DVD box set free if I reviewed it, so I figured I'd give it a shot. :) Is it any good?

...you...got...free...S.A.C...?

*is v. v. jealous*

It's weird. I liked it. Not quite as much as Cowboy Bebop (I <3's me some Bebop) or Big O (giant fighting art deco robots), but still good. I got more into that than I did into certain other animes (Inu-yasha, El Hazard), but I enjoy the whole "Cyberpunk" thing, so that could be why.

So, I highly recommend S.A.C. Also Bebop, Big O, Samurai Champloo, Utena, and Princess Tutu.

Seriously good perk of doing arts reviews for our uni newspaper - free stuff. :) It's not often as good as a DVD box set though, that's a bit of a one-off.

Okay, that's *good* since I have to watch most/all of it to review it and I was dreading it turning out to be awful. :) Weird is good. I'm really bad on the anime front, I was standing in a DVD store in Cardiff in the anime section wondering how the hell I'd never known there was so much of it out there. It's on my 'to-do' list when i get some spare money to buy DVDs, so I'll look those up. :) Cool.

Oooh, awesome. I'm glad you found that! (Six hours of tennis today, that should be enough to satisfy my tennis craving.)

SANDMAN! The Sandman comics are awesome, they're so good.

I was trying to see if the listings for The AO were up yet on the Sky website and the search for tennis turned up that. I'm just pleased I actually get to keep some of that Roger/Marat match on DVD, I always regretted not having it. :) I think Eurosport heard our wails of tennis deprivation.

That's what everyone's been telling me for ages. ^_^ Yay for Gaiman!
