clo_again: (Tennant - Last of the Time Queens)
Things that amuse me abut fandom: I go searching for John Simm/David Tennant RPS and open various Google links in tabs to peruse. Having found a good archive (Human Nature), I forget I even had other tabs. So an hour later when I click on one by accident, I find myself staring at a page titled 'Porn Battle' and going "What? Why am I on this page? Did I Google this page? I should hit- ooo hey look, Labyrinth fic!"

Fandom. If not the greatest invention in the world, then it is at least my favourite. <3

(By the way, Exposure by versaphile is amazing Simm/Tennant and hotter than chilli powder. Mmmm. Internets, you and your rule 34 are made of win.)

edit: Other Things I Love Also: Neil Gaiman putting Tim Minchin youtube vids in his blogs and when they mention each other on Twitter. <3 I like it when two completely unrelated people that I like surprisingly know about and like each other. I guess it's kind of validating, in a way. But mostly it's sweet and makes me want to snuggle all of them.
clo_again: (Tim/Paul - Shut Up and Kiss Me)
Have you ever looked at a picture and gone "Okay, there is NO WAY they aren't (in this case, weren't) fucking?

You know, my private theory is that Paul had a massive crush on Tim which was sort-of-sometimes requited until one day Tim decided it had to stop and he went back to Australia and left DAAS in pieces.*

...IT MAKES ME WANT TO WRITE FIC.

*Obviously this is what is known as HYPOTHETICAL SLASHER CRAZY. I'm not actually advocating that this is what happened; only the boys know that and the times they've actually talked about it suggest they have three different opinions on the whole situation anyway, so maybe no one knows. In which case, this is my happy (um. I suppose that should be angsty) little world of slashdom. AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE. MWHAHAHAHAHA.

...It's a good thing we don't rule the world. We'd totally rewrite all the history books to focus on the slash.
clo_again: (Paul McDermott - Happy Face)
Holy effing christ this comedy kink meme is the gift that keeps on giving. Moar comedian slash! Hurrah!

The only thing it's lacking is some DAAS. Mmmm.

Next task today; henna my hair. Then call thetrainline. Start thinking about sorting my room so I can pack for Newcastle/London.

Mmmmm. Busy busy.
clo_again: (Slashers - Like fascist dictators)
You know, St. Trinian's is one of the very few things I've watched and gone "There should be femmeslash for this."

Which considering they're in school is so very wrong. Sigh. Internet, you have so much to answer for.

...It's fun to get to use this icon for once though. :D

It's also surprisingly easy to forget that Rupett Everett isn't a woman. Hm.

#102: Stay up until 2:10am attempting to read every Bernard/Manny Black Books slash fic on the internet.

There is more than I expected and much of it does not suck. It is lovely. I will rec or stick all the best of it in my LJ memories (I should turn all those into a rec page on my IJ* now I think about, though wow there's a chore) when I've got to the end; I think I must be about two-thirds of the way through all of it now, unless there's more hiding around the internet. This is the internet, so probably but the handy list of links I found suggests not.

Also, I cannot remember the last time I mainlined a pairing like this. Andy/Roger does not count because there was none when I first wanted it and then it came in bits and pieces over years. Harry/Draco is a slow, ongoing thing on a rec-by-rec basis. There isn't enough JD/Cox slash in existence for that to count. In fact I think the last time I had a pairing marathon like this was... either Squall/Zell, though that was limited to one long series and so does not really count either, or... wow. Clark/Lex a million and one years ago.

I have no idea why I'm doing this. Except they were discussing homoerotic subtext in the Black Books commentary and when even the actors are handing it to you on a silver platter, you just can't not can you?

* I need to make a decision about what gets posted on the IJ and what gets posted here now. I keep wondering where to post and coming here out of habit. Maybe I should keep this for personal stuff and IJ for fandom. Maybe I should post here on odd days and IJ on even, or on days that begin with S. Something. I want to start using IJ more. I have so much shiny icon space over there and I need to icon the beautiful outtake of Bernard and Manny all tangled together and trying to drink wine. Actually that one may get uploaded over here too because again, how can you not?

edit: *thoughtful* So just say I was thinking of what I should plan for my birthday this year (ssshh; it takes me so long to get anything organised that I have to start early) and I was idly contemplating Dylan Moran's stand up dates at the same time and thinking I've never seen live stand up comedy and I should experience it at some point - given all that, would I be able to talk [livejournal.com profile] hill2k/[livejournal.com profile] dukedee/[livejournal.com profile] kindoftrouble/all of you into being interested? And would Birmingham on October 5th (Sunday night) or Manchester on October 18th (Saturday night) be better? Tickets are surprisingly cheap, assuming that there're any left but they've only been on sale for like five days so I'm hopeful. Ticketmaster's 'routine maintenance' is not helpful.

So. Hm. Thoughts? And will I have gone off this idea before October or is Dylan Moran too awesome for that? And if y'all aren't interested, take into account that I will be turning twenty-three before any of you and the sheer horror of my own decrepitness demands a certain degree of sacrifice. ;-)

I just saw Elizabethtown from start to finish for the first time. It's even better when you've seen the beginning and know what is actually going on. Also, Orlando Bloom is beautiful. He really is. I couldn't care less what his acting might be like (though dude, he's getting better. He has facial expressions now) because he's just fun to watch. Because he's pretty and I am shallow. Yes.

I should rewatch LotR sometime you know. I haven't seen it for a few years and considering one quarter of my dissertation was on Tolkien? I am a bad fan.

Last night I stayed up until 4am again to watch Raw; I thought I'd check out the beginning to see what the main match was and then maybe record it and sleep. However, they clearly had no sympathy for my lazy and gave me Jeff Hardy/Shawn Michaels, so I stayed up and amused myself through the matches I didn't give a monkey's about by contemplating how to slash tennis players with wrestlers and possible pairings.

By 4am I'd come up with a list of why Roger could be slashed successfully, completely inexplicably and with all the apparent personality clashes, with Jeff and what it would involve. I'd also arbitrarily picked out Jericho/Andy. And because I know what I'm like when I sleep and that I'd have forgotten it all by the morning, I did a "quick" private LJ post summary which took until 5am and went something like, among other things: Jeff painting patterns of body paint onto Roger )

I should go to bed, since I have to be awake for washing and job centre calling and Cloverfield tomorrow. More would get done if we needed less sleep.

- That there is not more Lee Mead slash in the world. I watched the program earlier about his 'journey' and it reminded me how pretty his eyes are. He'd be oh-so-pretty slashed with Josh Groban. Hint-anvil-hint. Ahem.

- That the £5 black dress I tried on in New Look today was just a shade too tight. Yet the single top I could find that I'd been wanting since the summer was two sizes too big. If I could've combined the two...

- That there are no DCs I like, seemingly in the world. My old ones are wearing out and I want some more, but there are none - at least none that aren't hideous - in existence. This is when I kick myself for not buying either of the pairs I liked when I saw them months ago.

- Guilt and the tightness of all my jeans lately stopped me buying a Millie's chocolate brownie today. Curses!

- ... Nope. That's it. Only have happy news; I finally got hold of a copy of Abe's Oddysee after years of wanting and I'm off to try it now. Yay!

Also, Jurassic Park III is on and I'm marvelling at how blatant the subtextual relationship between Grant and Billy is. Seriously. It's enough to make me actually watch the movie when nothing else could.

Also, also, am devouring Temeraire in great chunks and enjoying it hugely, even if I have been McCaffreyised into thinking all dragons are telepathic and have to keep reminding myself no, different books. I like Temeraire more; it's more realistic, the different breeds of dragons are fantastic - no bronzes and greens here - and Laurence is very likable, if occasionally a little too hung up on his own importance. Plus the idea of a dragon who loves books is too excellent not to be fantastic. Can't imagine why I waited so long to pick it up.
clo_again: (Roger - Overcome)
I just had to watch the end of Stargate Atlantis's second series didn't I? Even though the third series disappeared months ago from our student network and I have no immediate access to it, to find out what happens with ALL THE HORRIBLE CLIFFHANGERS.

My nerves were not designed to cope with this stress. ARGH. First hope is to poke K tomorrow, since I know she was downloading the third series last term. Maybe she or the b/f still have at least the first couple of episodes.

I would really love to hate this show for what it puts me through. I really would.

edit: On a less excited note -- more a flat fucking global warming, for godssake note -- the BBC weather forecast no longer includes snow for us this week. In fact, it's pretty much back to the levels of stupidly warm that it's been all smegging winter.

I'm starting to get really pissed now. I sulk all summer and then don't even get any snow or proper cold weather to compensate for the stupidly hot months. This is Britain. We are not the south of bloody France!

So. Totally moving to Iceland. Or Canada. *Somewhere* that still gets true winter weather still.

edit: Another random thing: A was asking me about companies earlier and I told her Walmart (Wal-mart?) is like the American version of our supermarkets, selling mainly food but a bit of everything else too, like clothes and DVDs and stuff. Was that right?

She also mentioned 'Dee-rey, they do something with agriculture stuff..." and I went "Oh, John Deere, yeah they make these huge tractors the size of like, buildings." Then had to think of a reason for me knowing that which didn't involve coming across it in Smallville slash and looking it up out of curiosity.

Everything I know about the world, I learned from slash fic. Heh. That's-- kind of depressing.

I found a quote a week or so back now that I wanted to share but I just found the comment where [livejournal.com profile] angstslashhope said it was okay so I'm sharing now. :) Because people *always* ask me "Why slash?" and I never know what to say. This seemed to sum it up, just *exactly* what I want to say but never quite know how:

""it's like: you want to see what colour red and blue makes. so you get some red & blue paints, and you mix them together, and find that you get purple. slash isn't the purple, for me. slash is the paint."
- [livejournal.com profile] angstslashhope

Exactly. :) It's not the slash itself, it's what it does, what comes out of it. How beautiful a colour can you end up with is what matters.
