I found a pair of DCs I like. Finally. Full price but I wear my DCs into the ground, so they're worth it. My old ones are on the verge of rubbing my heel off if I walk any distance, so I even have a legitimate excuse.

We are pleased. It feels like forever that I've been looking for a pair of black DCs I like - specifically, ones without pink on them; there's a pair I liked in Office with tiny stars on but the logo was outlined in pink and no, really just not for me. I would find a picture of the ones I like, but the DCs site is full of fail for needing me to update Flash just to view anything.

So after my second-to-last day in the most boring job in the world tomorrow (that said, I rewatched all of the first season of Primeval today, but still. I'm *stuffing envelopes*) I will blow a day's pay on new DCs. Otherwise I really will die of boredom tomorrow. I have something like a thousand questionnaires to fold and envelope by the end of Monday. Bah. -_-

Though, a lady from the office down the corridor from my envelope-stuffing room came to give me a chocolate today, because she said she's walked past every day this week and she's amazed I've coped with sitting there stuffing envelopes. Oddly, the chocolate was one of the strawberry-flavour goo filled ones; my favourites.

I have no idea how she knew this. Suspect they're all mind-readers. Considering how many uncomplimentary things I've thought about their system this week, that could be a bad thing.

Haaaappppyy New Year!

Am at [livejournal.com profile] rainy_roz's, stealing her laptop and her internet. [livejournal.com profile] dukedee and Jules randomly turned up on the tipsy side of drunk and [livejournal.com profile] hill2k is wheelbarrow-jousting somewhere in Norfolk. Feel like I'm somewhat letting the side down by sitting here drinking tea and watching random telly but it's good to chill.

There's an episode of Scrubs on that I haven't seen. This seems auspicious for the new year. Hm.

Today I shopped but found no black DCs in my size. Found nice Vans, in my size in grey but grey's not black. There were lovely brown patterned DCs but expensive and also, not black.

Foolishly, I went to check out the Disney Store sale. Have added another few weeks on to my saving time for the Oz trip I think, but have plenty of Disney stuff for when I go. Yay!

So welcome to 2008. I hope it's as good as 2007. I liked 2007.

- That there is not more Lee Mead slash in the world. I watched the program earlier about his 'journey' and it reminded me how pretty his eyes are. He'd be oh-so-pretty slashed with Josh Groban. Hint-anvil-hint. Ahem.

- That the £5 black dress I tried on in New Look today was just a shade too tight. Yet the single top I could find that I'd been wanting since the summer was two sizes too big. If I could've combined the two...

- That there are no DCs I like, seemingly in the world. My old ones are wearing out and I want some more, but there are none - at least none that aren't hideous - in existence. This is when I kick myself for not buying either of the pairs I liked when I saw them months ago.

- Guilt and the tightness of all my jeans lately stopped me buying a Millie's chocolate brownie today. Curses!

- ... Nope. That's it. Only have happy news; I finally got hold of a copy of Abe's Oddysee after years of wanting and I'm off to try it now. Yay!

Also, Jurassic Park III is on and I'm marvelling at how blatant the subtextual relationship between Grant and Billy is. Seriously. It's enough to make me actually watch the movie when nothing else could.

Also, also, am devouring Temeraire in great chunks and enjoying it hugely, even if I have been McCaffreyised into thinking all dragons are telepathic and have to keep reminding myself no, different books. I like Temeraire more; it's more realistic, the different breeds of dragons are fantastic - no bronzes and greens here - and Laurence is very likable, if occasionally a little too hung up on his own importance. Plus the idea of a dragon who loves books is too excellent not to be fantastic. Can't imagine why I waited so long to pick it up.
