Rita wind speed down to 120 mph"

So it's still dropping. Down another 10 mph and it'll be a category 2. Wishful think *really* hard. Apparently it's also possible that Houson and Galveston might escape the worst of a direct hit, which is making me relieved for [livejournal.com profile] astonish and the people [livejournal.com profile] mina_pak said were staying behind. Though it's also making me feel terrible for wishing it to move further away from them, because then it's going to go over more people, the only difference being I don't know them. It's a lose-lose situation. *sighs* In an ideal world, it'd just fizzle out before reaching land. Why has no one found a way to diffuse weather systems yet? It's all pressure and temperature and... science things that as an English student I don't understand right? So there's got to be something they could do. We can travel faster than sound but not pull apart a single weather system.

In related news, if one more article on this mentions oil prices to me, I'm going to seriously smite some journalists. People in the way of a *hurricane*. I really couldn't give a damn if you have to pay a little more to fill your goddamn car.

edit: Going to get a little sleep. Today, I have been terrible. Actually yesterday. I think the only thing of any use I accomplished was doing the washing up, after days of putting it off.

So tomorrow I will do stuff. Lots of stuff. I *will* or there will be *consequences*.

Night.
