clo_again: (Maneki Neko - Year of the Cow)
Today I redesigned my IJ and walked to the post office to post a letter for the 'rentals. This is all I have done. Apart from have odd dreams all last night, which didn't really require much effort on my part.

I would feel lazy, except it's the first time in a couple of months that I've really had a few days off together in which I can do nothing. Tomorrow I'm meeting all the Waterstone's people for a 'goodbye temps' meal (and a chance to catch up on the gossip from this week, which I've been missing), so it's not like a totally wasted week. And I'm working next week! This is well-deserved downtime. (Sh. It works as an excuse.)

In the meantime, I've decided that watching Farscape is the order of the week and I'm four episodes into the first series. Long way to go yet but I'd forgotten how much I love it. It's so awesome. *hearts* How does everyone in the world not see the awesome of this show?

Speaking of awesome shows, something may be of interest to people with more money than me right now (but not much! Go amazon and their prices lately); Amazon have the complete DVD collection of Buffy for £71. It's kind of shockingly excellent and I wish I could afford even that... but my Rough Guides to Australia and New Zealand came today, which reminded me that I have to be good. No more buying of DVDs unless absolutely necessary for my sanity.

Apparently you can also get refunds for any price changes for things you bought in December. My Dark Materials books have actually gone up in price, so it's no use to me but it's a nifty feature for people kicking themselves for not waiting for the sales (so many of the things I got for Christmas are insanely cheaper now. My Squall figure's gone from £18.99 to £9.99 and I'm kicking myself). Worth looking in to.

And now it's Cheeseburger Thursday, so I'm off to make myself my cheeseburger. I'm considering making it Cheeseburger Wednesday for a couple of months to coincide with the new series of Torchwood. Mmmm. It might be hard to change a tradition that's gone on this long.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!! ...Okay I'll quit channelling Proffessor Farnsworth but there really is good news because the Hamster is back

Take the momentarily pause news that good deserves. Okay? Good.

Even better Top Gear is back next month AND, the mocking has already started. "Much to Hammond's surprise he was bestowed a Lego replica of the jet racer he had crashed in September - complete with a horrified Lego driver at the wheel"

I *want to see* that.

All in all, this news combined with it being cheeseburger Thursday and that I watched both parts of the second series finale of Buffy for the first time in years, has made this? An excellent day.

Oh Hamster. Your awesome knows no limits.

So I've been planning to buy series two of Buffy as a birthday present to myself for weeks. Sure £28 is a lot with the current state of my bank account but it's *Buffy* and it's about time I bought my favourite series of it. Only I've been putting it off and off some more for weeks, without really knowing why, always excusing it as "I'll buy it next week when I've spent less". Only to just hop over there to idly check the price of something else and find all seasons of Buffy are now only £14:99.

Damn. I *love* it when things like this happen.

Got up early this morning to write my 1,000 words of creative non-fiction and managed to finish and submit it half an hour before the deadline. Promptly celebrated by going back to bed because eh, english student. It's not like I have anything better to be doing with my time. ;-)

edit: In fact, I was making myself choose between Buffy and Red Dwarf before but I just checked out Red Dwarf on a whim and they've all been reduced too. So I could actually buy *both* for less than just Buffy was originally going to cost me.

... To paraphrase Doctor Cox, I love this day so much, I could have sex with it.
