They're announcing the Eleventh Doctor in like, fifteen minutes. Or not, because they've actually given a whole thirty-five minutes of BBC One over to the Confidential where they'll announce it, leading me to suspect they'll make us wait until the last five minutes.

As much as I'm excited about this (I love the Tennant, I really do. I flailed for weeks when he was cast but now, there's only so much more emo!face I can take and I'm looking forward to all the shiny new storylines they can do with Eleven), I can't quite believe they're making this into such a huge thing. This is BBC One, home of seriousness and stiff upper lips, the main TV channel over here. It's no small thing to dedicate an entire half an hour to one announcement of a casting dcision.

THEY'RE NOW TALKING ABOUT IT ON BBC ONE NEWS. THE ENTIRE NATION IS GOING NUTS OVER THIS.

...Sometimes, I really really love being British.

(They just mentioned it AGAIN on BBC Wales news, though that's not so much of a surprise given the immensely possessive attitude the Welsh seem to have for Doctor Who.)

And in the last few minutes, I'm going to put out my vote for Paterson Joseph. Recently watching the Gaiman's commentary on Neverwhere, he said repeatedly "This man should be the Doctor" and I totally agree.

edit: APPARENTLY RICHARD HAMMOND WAS SUGGESTED. *sporfle*

It is not Paterson Joseph. *sadness* Apparently it is someone very young. My money is now on Matt Smith.

I just texted you to ask you if you were watching. I'M SO EXCITED. But i don't think it's going to be Paterson Joseph after the young comments.

It's Matt Smith. Bet you anything. They just said "It's a twenty-six year old!" and I'd just worked out that Matt Smith is twenty-six. I'm torn between sadness over PJ and intrigue because I can see how Matt Smith would be fantastic... but could also be terribly weird and th worse parts of David Tennant's crazy all over again.

I went and worked that out too. I sense the Tennantcrazy. Eleven is going to be Ten mark two. And really, if he's not, I'll be thrilled.

As a non DR Who fan, am very amused by the fact my Flist seems to have gone mad over this announcement.

And Hammond? o.0

It is like, The Batshit Has Landed. I didn't even know they were making the announcement until about fifteen minutes before but somehow people in Australia and the US knew. This fandom is crazy with the obsessive. And uh, a little scary. I think they could've made a better choice but people are seriously upset about this. o_O It's like... the guy hasn't started yet! Give him a break.

Yes, Hammond. I KNOW. The Confidential that made the announcement briefly showed a manip of Hammond's face on David Tennant. It was hilarious. (And when Tennant was on Top Gear, Jeremy told him he was like a taller, better-looking Hammond. Also hilarious).

*giggles* I mean, I've seen the odd episode, but I was traumatised by the daleks as I child so have never got into it. And apart from bawling my eyes out when Speed died, I'm not even this batshit crazy about CSI.

I do love the absolute cutie pie that is Hammond. He'd be an adorable Doctor.
