They're announcing the Eleventh Doctor in like, fifteen minutes. Or not, because they've actually given a whole thirty-five minutes of BBC One over to the Confidential where they'll announce it, leading me to suspect they'll make us wait until the last five minutes.
As much as I'm excited about this (I love the Tennant, I really do. I flailed for weeks when he was cast but now, there's only so much more emo!face I can take and I'm looking forward to all the shiny new storylines they can do with Eleven), I can't quite believe they're making this into such a huge thing. This is BBC One, home of seriousness and stiff upper lips, the main TV channel over here. It's no small thing to dedicate an entire half an hour to one announcement of a casting dcision.
THEY'RE NOW TALKING ABOUT IT ON BBC ONE NEWS. THE ENTIRE NATION IS GOING NUTS OVER THIS.
...Sometimes, I really really love being British.
(They just mentioned it AGAIN on BBC Wales news, though that's not so much of a surprise given the immensely possessive attitude the Welsh seem to have for Doctor Who.)
And in the last few minutes, I'm going to put out my vote for Paterson Joseph. Recently watching the Gaiman's commentary on Neverwhere, he said repeatedly "This man should be the Doctor" and I totally agree.
edit: APPARENTLY RICHARD HAMMOND WAS SUGGESTED. *sporfle*
It is not Paterson Joseph. *sadness* Apparently it is someone very young. My money is now on Matt Smith.
