clo_again: (Tim Minchin - Yay!)
I know, I know, two Youtube imbeds in three posts but I promised this as soon as I found it and trust me, it's so worth it. Who else votes for Jamie Cullum getting a cameo at some point during the Minchin's next tour and them doing a piano duet? I WOULD SO BE THERE.

Without further ado...

Posts will return to containing actual substance other than "Yay Minchin!" soon. At least until November and tennis, at which point it'll be "Yay! Roger!" until December when it'll be "Yay! Cardiff!"

...I squee a lot. Hm. Oh but wait, I just remembered November will also be full of bitching about my NaNo so it'll balance! Hooray!

I downloaded Primeval 03x03 a few days ago but just now got around to watching it while I wait for Planet of the Dead to download (part four of six!) and holy crap cakes, when did this show go from "vaguely silly Saturday night dinosaur insanity" to "holy shit, they just did what now give me the next episode immediately or I may die of the waiting"?

Seriously. This show just took a step up. There is a reason I'm bothering to download this while Robin Hood isn't even getting recorded back home; take note BBC. You make have hit everyone's fun and fabulous gaydar-mad dragons-Anthony Head being an awesome tyrant-kinks with Merlin but watch Primeval for tips on how to make a show that forces you to sit up and pay attention.

major spoilery spoilery spoilers! )

Yeah. I'm going to bed now, with my buzz totally killed dead. You know what the problem with TV shows is? Actors.

(But in Torchwood's case it's the scriptwriters. Or occasionally the camerawork. Or...

...okay, okay, tangent. I'm just bitter. WATCH ME DOWNLOAD ROBIN HOOD INSTEAD NEXT WEEK ITV...except Jonass is leaving at the end of this series too.

SEE. ACTORS ARE THE PROBLEM. DAMN THEM ALL.)

So, earlier today I was idly skimming my flist when I hit on a rec from [livejournal.com profile] rionaleonhart. Even though it was in-progress, it had the summary A massively multifandom accidental epic following Sam Tyler (Life On Mars) and Jack Harkness (Doctor Who and Torchwood)on their misadventures, as they explore the galaxy, almost destroy some worlds, and barely save others which sounds pretty awesome if it could be made to work so, expecting something funny and lighthearted and not just a little cracky, I thought I'd check it out.

About four and a half hours later I looked up to realise the afternoon was over, at some point I'd relocated to my room to stop my mother talking to me while I was trying to read, my hand was over my mouth to stop myself making gleeful sounds out loud and I hadn't even read all of it. It is- awesome. Beyond words. The concept that sounds vaguely ridiculous? Isn't. Everyone's so in character, they go through crap, they fight, they crack jokes, they break time, get extremely drunk in bars much more authentically alien than 'Who or Torchwood manages to show and somehow Jack and Sam makes a really, really excellent team (regardless of how many timelines/planets/univeres they manage to break because that's by accident. Mostly). It hits so many fandoms, some of which I haven't even come across yet because I'm still reading; the FFVIII parts made me especially gleeful though. So:

Damaged People by [livejournal.com profile] draegonhawke. That's a link to the index of parts arranged into various characters' timelines (I started with Sam's because it's at the top but I suspect the sort-of-order here might be better). It's got its own community where the parts are posted at [livejournal.com profile] damageverse. I'm so excited by that long list of parts to-be-written because that hopefully means we'll be getting new bits and pieces and fics in the 'verse for a long while yet. It's one thing I'd say read, even if you don't like WiPs because it's so fun to read and each part/interlude works pretty well in itself.

Seriously, this is worth the time of your life to read and review, because it isn't getting nearly the love it deserves. Go. Fangirl the wonderful. Pass it on.

So I came home from work to to find WIMBLEDON TICKETS. Suddenly this is a Happy Wednesday!

Also don't quote me on this because I have constant paranoia when it comes to being optimistic about seats but- I think we're just to one side of the net in the front row. Entrance D, Row A.This is where D is in the Wimbledon seating plan. And A is the first row. Usually. Right? I won't believe it until we're sitting there. But at the very least we have good seats, even if they aren't front-row-awesome. Which they might be. The only downside is that the Umpire might be in the way and they'll have their backs to us when sitting down but equally they'll be *that close* and many many excellent photo ops in the course of walking to-away from the chairs. And maybe, I don't know. We could sneak out during games and turn the chairs to face us instead of the court and hope they don't notice. They're focusing on their tennis; it's entirely plausible. Ahem.

Please please please, whatever deity out there that I haven't offended yet, make it not rain on June 25th. Please. And please make Roger be on Centre Court. On that day. I'm aware I'm putting conditions in this now but I'll do anything! Okay, nearly anything. Some things. Like, I won't sacrifice a goat but I could be persuaded to sacrifice say, a wasp. Violently, with a newspaper next time one flies into my room. Then everybody wins.

Wimbledon! Wimbledon Wimbledon! *flails* The only downside about the whole trip is that I bought my train tickets yesterday, finally, and for some reason every train down Saturday had three changes and most of them took almost five hours. Which is just stupid when Sunday's trains had one change and took three hours, so I'm going Sunday but that's a day less of having crazy London fun. *sadness* Stupid British rail network. I'm not leaving until almost 4pm Thursday though, so there's four days and Sunday night. Which I'm hoping will have Top Gear. Yay!

Less than a month to go. Dammit. GO QUICKLY.

edit: Of course all this depends on me remembering to pack the tickets to take with me. I command you all - not just [livejournal.com profile] kindoftrouble, all of you! if you have any love for my sanity or your own, since I will complain on LJ and IJ at great length for months if I get to Wimbledon and my Centre Court tickets are back in Wales - for the love of smeg, remind me to pack the freaking tickets. June 21st please. Comment, poke me, text me, send me pigeon post, just remind me. Please. I've been known to come back to Wales from university with my wallet and all my cards still in Lancaster. I will almost certainly need reminding and even if I don't, it'll be nice to know I have back-up memories working for me. ^_^
clo_again: (Doctor Who - Kitty Love)
I don't care that I haven't started writing yet. I don't care that I haven't done the plot outlines I was meant to do this morning. I don't even care that I haven't made so much as a start on my dissertation plan.

Because pictures like this exist in the world. And all is perfect.

edit: Icon. Because I needed cuteness right now and Kitty/Tennant rules all.

Vue cinema to open in Lancaster.

FINALLY someone decides to cash in on our sad lack of a cinema. Ah. Happiness.
clo_again: (Wimbledon)
I'm home and tired amd really, Virgin trains, would it kill you to have air con that damn well works? Please? Don't even *ask* how unpleasant it would be to sit next to me right now but hey, a shower is in my near future and all is well. Actually I still haven't stopped grinning about having breakfast in *Harrods*, all is *fantastic*. ;-)

Wimbledon. Awesomeness. If you want my voice post from Court One it's here to stop it screwing with my flist and yeah, I should sort that sometime. Not tonight. Definitely not tonight.

Rafa serves prettily. *harts* Pretty pictures tomorrow.

I would not be here right now without [livejournal.com profile] kindoftrouble's genius, so all go and give her your souls. Or cookies, equal goodness. Give her shiny, shiny things anyway because she is Teh Awesome of Awesomes.

Shower. I've been dreaming of it for about five hours now.

OH MY GOD.

OH MY GOD.

NOW I DED FROM SQUEE.

edit: Just in case, warning of the slightest of spoilers for Doctor Who's The Impossible Planet in the comments.

AAAAAHHHHHINTERNETISFINALLYWORKINGOMGTHECLEVERNESSOFME!!!:D

All night it's taken me. I've never been so happy to see the Google logo in my life. IT WORKS.

Going to finish unpacking, do the exfoliate-face-mask-shower-chill thing and then I'll start catching up. Hee, Lancaster internet on the desktop! *glee*

This post was completely pointless other than to squee. ^_^
