Did I squee about this before? I think I meant to and forgot. But even if I did, it's worth doing again:
Strange Fate by LJ Smith has a cover and release date on Amazon.
If you don't know why this is an Epic Massive Huge Thing (I'm sure there's someone out there)... let me put it this way; in high school so oh, eight years ago now? I was reading Smith's Night World series. I was reading the 9th book, Witchlight in French class for some reason (possibly because it was French class) and a girl I kind of got on with okay but wasn't friends with immediately went "Oh my god you like those books too! Aren't you dying for the tenth one! Isn't it out before Christmas?!" And I said "YES. I'M SO EXCITED." And we flailed madly for a few minutes and ever after we were nicer to each other.
Cut to eight years later. That before-Christmas release has been a long time in coming. Except, now LJ Smith has resurfaced from health problems(?) and her Vampire Diaries is a tv show (I never read VD but still feel I should look the show up, regardless of terrible reviews) and she's apparently writing again and Strange Fate has a release date and a cover.
Seriously, I'd written this off as never happening. I still don't really believe it'll happen until I get a copy of the book in my hand. Closer to April I'll preorder it but right now I'm just double-checking the Amazon page. To make sure we're not being screwed over again. Because god dammit, I want this book even though ( potential MAJOR spoilers from interviews )
IN ANOTHER LJ SMITH THOUGHT: they make Vampire Diaries into a tv show but no one's optioned The Forbidden Game for a movie/movie trilogy yet? COME ON. IT'S SO MUCH BETTER THAN TWILIGHT. Plus I reallyreallyreally want to see what they'd do with Julian.
Actually now I think about it? FG has some oddly Twilight moments. Julian stalks Jenny and protects her. He watches her sleep. He's madly in love with her. Oh, and it's made very obvious that being a spooky dangerous stalker? DOESN'T HELP HIS CASE. So Twilight, take notes.
Another suggestion made by a reviewer was that they make Nightworld into a Heroes-type ensemble series.
...I think I might've died a little with glee. Because, wow. There's probably too many people and stories for that to work but...yes. I can totally see that being awesome. It'll never happen but it would be awesome if they did do it and not in a half-assed way. Mmmm.

Now I'm going to search of breakfast and to contemplate my day. I really need to get stuff done today since I haven't all weekend.
