Have discovered Paula Cole. Bought the CD for Where Have All the Cowboys Gone and discovered the Dawson's Creek theme song, which I always loved even though I never really watched the show, is on there too. I love it.

I'm so glad it's the weekend. I promise to catch up on everything sometime in the next day or so.

I kind of want to make a Roger soundtrack, only it doesn't know whether it wants to be a Roger soundtrack or a fic soundtrack yet but it's been stewing at the back of my mind for a while and it's about time it decided. Although I do have the pretty much complete Andy/Roger one just waiting for final tweaks and fic in the liner notes, since that was the whole point of it in the first place.

I'm off to finally finish transferring all my old fic onto my fic journal over here at InsaneJournal now, so no, it's not a sudden flood of new stuff. Though I wish the internet worked on my desktop, because my laptop's been on for half an hour and already the fan is running full blast to stop it overheating. Goddammit I wish my stupid brother hadn't just abandoned us to our utterly crappy internet that doesn't work on half the computers in the house. And also, I really need a new laptop. I was thinking the end of the summer but I don't know if I can wait that long. I suppose it's all the same if I spend the money then or now. Ack. Though, this one has lasted four years without any major breakdowns and that's pretty amazing.

Maybe I'll call my brother later and ask him what good laptops he can get me discount on right now, just to compare them to what I liked on the Dell website. And no, I do not need to spend more just to get a pretty pattern on the lid dammit. I really don't.

I just saw a "you are about to view content that is not suitable yadda yadda" warning. Is this because I deliberately let my paid account expire (and intend to keep it that way, thanks for nothing owned-by-Russia-and-crazy-persons-LJ)? Or was I just ignoring them on [livejournal.com profile] tennisslash before?

I will not be amused if I have to see them all the time. Though it will not make my renew my paid ccount; rather it'll just make me spend more time on IJ. Take note LiveJournal. Be less annoying or I shall be less here.

Also, why y'all go and post when I have less time to read my flist? Like, to the hour I stop having time. Suspect conspiracy. Damn yous. ;-)

I have to stop spending so much money in London. This does not look likely. Australia looks very far away. Woe.

Also also, I have to decide which six icons I absolutely have to have, as LJ has picked some that I never use. Bah. Failsworth.

This summary of my life brought to you from A's flat and a keyboard with only half the letters visible. This taken into account, I'm poudr fo teh raedablyti fo thsi psto.

...Little things. ^_^

Well I made it safe to London and am currently sitting in the Flat of Awesome, which is indeed the Flat of Awesome. It really makes me want to move out. *wistful* I could totally find a flat like this in Cardiff.

However, the flist threw up two things of interest despite my absence ;) today, firstly this interview with Terry Pratchett which is lovely but has totally freaked me out with that note about fillings, considering that my mouth has more fillings than teeth now. I really need to get a job so I can invest in none-brain-destroying dentistry. o_O

And the other was this charming interview from Anton Nosik, a higher-up at SUP. Which really sums up the attitude I've been feeling from LJ lately and when my paid account expires for the final time in a few days, I will be shifting base operations over to IJ. I'm not deleting anything; I'll be around here and posting odd things and comments and such, but all LJ's done in the last year is piss me off, whereas all IJ and Squeaky have done is impress me. I should really stop faffing and do something about it. I feel like LJ is pointing and laughing at us now, and damned if I'll stick around to support any service that treats paying customers like that, more than I have to. More people are migrating to IJ it seems now and if LJ carries on the way it is, I'm sure there'll be even more. I'd rather get comfortable over there now because I want to, before LJ does something that means I really have to.

In the meantime I am in London and [livejournal.com profile] kindoftrouble has left me keys and pointed toward the museums and Harrods, so I should be going. Things to see, expensive shops to visit, money to spend - but not too much, since we're not hitting Forbidden Planet until the weekend. ^_^ I might need to take out a loan.

Shifting all my tennis slash over to IJ is turning into such a chore. Sometime long ago, it seemed like such a good idea. O_O Organise the scattered fic! Get a proper tag system in place! Not have to ask people to friend to see the locked stuff!

Yeah. In future, consider why you've never bothered to consolidate and tag properly before; it's a huge pain in the ass. I've been at it all night and so far this index and everything in it with an * is what I've got posted there. I'm going to be here 'til October at this rate.

That said, I've got a proper system for tracking what I've shifted and what I haven't now, a proper collection of tags and a new appreciation for how much I dislike some of my old fic. Seriously, ugh. But at least when it's all done I can stick a link up to it from [livejournal.com profile] clofic and I won't have to keep checking for friending requests.

And Tweak just exclaimed "Ridiculously romantic!" as I was posting one of my sappier fics. It's the kind of thing that makes you love IJ.

Whoa. An idle click on [livejournal.com profile] tennisslash when I'm not expecting the different layout? Should not freak me out as much as it did. That's... weird. Not that I go there much or at all hardly, anymore or ever really, since that's what flists are for. It's just... weird.

You know, I need to start writing tennis slash again so I could open a tennis slash comm on IJ. A proper one, not just mine. Which I will finish shifting fic to...sometime. Later maybe. On a tangent note, I finally got the internet working on my desktop again yesterday and my IJ layout doesn't work right on this screen. Dammit. This is what comes of working in percentages instead of pixels. I wonder if it would work if I changed it to pixels? Mmm.*

(If the interweb explodes in the next five minutes I think we can safely assume the answer to that is 'no'.)

The only other thing of note I accomplished yesterday, besides spending the entire day in my pyjamas because I'm lazy, was working out how to make my own wallpaper and floors for The Sims 2. Much glee was had. This at least puts off me spending money I don't have and shouldn't spend on more expansion packs for a while longer.

Which means I can spend it on a new duvet cover if I find the one I like when we go shopping later. I doubt I will because it was months ago I saw it and I missed the sales but I can hope until we get there and there's no sign of it.

ETA: * It worked. This makes me pissed that I faffed around with percentages for ages the first time I did it.

*

ETA again: I watched Derren Brown's The System last night and oh my *god*, he played us all for suckers. And it worked. (Though howinhell did he apply that 'system' to those journalists and racing people? Was that just him being freakishly clever?) I actually believed he'd lost all that poor woman's money for a second though god, what if the original horse had won? There had to be a set-up in there somewhere but I don't care because it was awesome when he explained it all with that little smirk.

Though *nine hours* flipping a coin just to film a row of heads. Nine freaking hours*. Derren you are insane and wonderful and your beard is so delightfully evil.

If I became famous tomorrow? Derren Brown is the person I'd most look forward to meeting. Not Roger Federer or Simon Pegg or Neil Gaiman. Derren Brown. Because he is just... just evilly awesome.

*

I also watched Primeval which was so, so bad (slow motion? Really? You didn't hear what we said about Torchwood series one then no? You must've been some distance away because we were yelling pretty loud)except for the parts where it was actually good. You can see this show really trying to be good and having good ideas, it's just... the editing was bad last night and considering Helen and Lester are the only ones whose acting I enjoy and they have the least screen time? Yeah. Claudia/Jenny/whatever-her-name-is is awful; I thought she'd got a bit better over last series but it was like back to basics at the start of this one. I've got nothing against her with Cutter (no matter how much he comes across as married to Stephen and they were so having a lover's tiff last night, it was *hilarious*) but crikey woman, try not to make me wince with every stilted line you say.

Still it's entertaining and it's not like I was ever expecting it to be actually *good*. Throw a group of cute people together and have them hunt for dinosaurs; the acting can be as bad as it likes and I'd still be there because *dinosaurs*. Heh.

[livejournal.com profile] greenwitch telling me that Permanent Accounts on IJ were on sale for $35 decided it for me, because £17? I'd be crazy not to for that price. You'll find me permanently insane over on IJ now, whic doesn't mean I'm abandoning LJ; most of my flist is still only here and nothing compares to the sheer amount of fic, vids and comms on LJ (yet). I'll just be more of a presence over on IJ in future. Have to be, since I just paid for the privilege. ^_^

Oh and I decided to hold off on the mp3 player for now. They'll only be cheaper in the January sales and I'll be kicking myself for rushing into it.
