clo_again

I'm in one of my mid-morning snoozefests, which is when all the post's been sorted but there aren't many people coming to reception and it's too early to worry about getting the afternoon's mail done. So I generally doodle or hit LJ or clean my entire desk (yesterday; we shall not speak of the horrors beneath the keyboard). Today I'd been thinking of computer games I used to love and I went Wikipediaing Creatures on which I time-wasted many glorious hours when I was younger.

There are add-ons. They've released collections, ones I can still buy off Amazon for much less than expensive. And best of all I think my desktop might actually be able to run them, for all that it struggles with The Sims 2; Creatures is rather older, so I can't see why it shouldn't run fine.

I'm aware that I'm sitll halfway through Abe's Odyssee and two-thirds of the way through Alice which I need to restart because I missed the Ice Wand but *Creatures*. The sheer nostalgia just from the name, the hours we spent trying to breed shoals of rainbow fish in the aquarium, the screaming in wrathful frustration as the damn Norns went to sleep while you wanted them to do something again-

Have to get it. Don't care that I am broke. The shiny collected version will be mine!

In the meantime I still have at least an hour and a half to fill. Mmmmm. What else can Wikipedia tell me?
