It occurred to me over dinner that Edinburgh is really not so far away from me now (direct trains from Lancaster only take just over two hours, so less than three overall from where I live and totally doable in a day. An idle check of the trainline.com says I could do say, Saturday 22nd in a day (leaving here 7:45am, getting back 10pm which is a long day but it could be worth it) for around £26. But most of the stuff I'd like to see at the Book Festival is already sold out and I'm staring blankly at The Fringe Programme going 'so how do I pick what I want to see and how do I know it won't already have sold out?' I mean, there's over two thousand shows going on. Not to mention they've lready sold a crapload of tickets (like 35,000+ on the first box office day) so a lot of stuff has to be sold out. I guess I could close my eyes and point... or maybe wait until it starts at the weekend and look out for good reviews in The Guardian. Hm.

(I could go on the 15th and check out Johnny Depp's brother. ;-) Because it's at least a bit tempting right?)

There are tickets left for Wilosophy but it does't start until 8:50pm. >:-/ Rage! Even if could I stay over, which ain't gonna happen unless I have lots of money to fling at an expensive hotel (and not even then perhaps), I wouldn't really want to be wandering around Edinburgh by myself after it finished at that time. *wistful* I hate you a little for that Wil Anderson. I would've loved to see your show. Especially since it's apparently being held in the Udderbelly, a giant upside-down purple cow. Work that one out. Hm.

I don't know. I can't decide if it's worth it, in terms of money and exhaustion and if I'd actually get to see anything good (and at a doable time WIL ANDERSON). But it would be excellent to bum around the Fringe for a day, if I can afford it. It's the Fringe. And Edinburgh's not too shabby either, though I rather think the entire city will be like a Tube train at rush hour while the Fringe is on.

...Adam Hills is also there. And also on at 8:50pm. DEAR PEOPLE WHO DECIDE THIS, I HATE YOU ALL. THE REST OF THE DAY DOES EXIST, THANK YOU. Maybe they're catering for the Australians' jetlag, or just giving everyone more drinking time; whatever the reason HAVE MY DISAPPROVAL. I definitely would've gone for Australian comedians. *wistful*

I'll think about it tomorrow. I'd like to get an actual programme to flick through because it's easier than reading it online but I refuse to pay £3.50 for handling and postage. Plus nowhere around here is on the list of stockists. Sigh.
