In the name of ignoring my life right now, I think I'm going to spend the next few days obsessively checking for new baby updates, just because I can and because it's more fun than sulking about everything. Hurrah for excellent timing Baby Fed! Poor Mirka though; she already looked horribly uncomfortable at Wimbledon and it's been weeks. Makes me glad I'm sticking with pets instead of kids.

As much as it's going to be Baby Fed forever and ever (and subsequent ones shall be Baby Fed the Second, Baby Fed the Third etc.), for what it's worth my money's on a girl and if the rumour of Robin wasn't true (hey it works for girl or boy) I'd guess maybe... Emilie? As much as a Swiss baby name site just cracked me up by giving 'Federica' as an actual Swiss name I highly doubt they'd name it Federica Federer. Um. At least I hope not.

(If they do I may have to disown Roger and become a die-hard Mardy fan because that's just bad.)

There're some really pretty Swiss names. Apparently Chiara is Swiss? I thought it was Irish. Hm. Atalie is pretty, though it kind of sounds like you're saying Natalie wrong. Claudia. Eva. Liana just made me think of Top Gear and now I'm laughing again. Maria or any of the derivatives would be cause to burst into The Sound of Music songs every time the TV shows him, Mirka or The Spawn. I'm not ruling out Martina either. If it is a boy and Robin was just a rumour, they should call him Remy instead and I can refer to it as Gambit. Or Xavier, because that name never gets old!

(I'm glad I don't want kids; one day I'd have to explain to them why they had such a silly name and showing someone a cartoon/comic book/film and going "LOOK ISN'T THIS CHARACTER AWESOME?' will probably go down badly. Unless I'd brought them up properly and they were a geek, of course.)

edit: Just before I go to bed like I should've done an hour ago, I'd just like to point out that Wikipedia SOURCE OF ALL INTERWEB KNOWLEDGE says the most popular baby boy name among German speakers is: TIM (you might have to scroll down a bit but it's there) followed by NOAH (oh the Wimbledon rain/flood jokes to be had with that!) Girl's name; first is Lena followed by Sara. Not that I think Roger will go with popular opinion but I would loooooove him to name a boy Tim because the sheer batshit of the British press would be hilarious. And also it'd be a lot more random (therefore funnier) than Rafael or even Andy.

And on that note since no more baby news seems to be forthcoming, I'm off to bed. Here's to me being less of a miserable sod tomorrow (Baby Fed would help, Mirka. You know, you probably... actually you probably don't have anything else on your mind right now. But just a suggestion anyway!)

I know! Even though it's probably going to be endless days of waiting and no other news sites seem to care which is sad. I don't know why I'm agonising over this; I DON'T LIKE CHILDREN. CLEARLY I'M JUST ROGER-CRAZY. :D

I think I'm leaning girlwards because me and [livejournal.com profile] make_a_move laughed about it possibly being called Maria months and months ago, so that's influenced me. But 50/50 isn't bad odds so I'm sticking with girl. :D

Mine would be all "mom, why am I called Mardy? It's a stupid name" which is why I am sticking to cats. They can't complain about being called Mardy.

BabyFed should be called Andreas/Andrea. Because it would be hilarious.

You can't really get away with calling a British kid Mardy considering it's listed in the dictionary as 'ADJECTIVE (of a child) 1. spoilt 2. irritable'. It's just asking for trouble. ;-) I spend far too much time deciding on names for my future cats (so far Diego is topping the list, followed closely by Darcy, Oscar and Leo. I'm going to be a crazy cat lady, hurrah!)

It would be funny but I know an Andrea. >_< I'm hoping he doesn't give it the name of someone I know because it would confuse me, utterly. Which is why there was much woe when I spotted 'Helene' on the list of Swiss baby names. ;-)

omg if it's a girl i totally want them to name her federica federer lmaooooo that would be so epic.

i think if it's a boy he'll probably named after peter carter. that would be lovely and i would be made out of goo.

f they call her Federica Federer, I would laugh until Baby Fed the second was born. It's so unspeakably bad!

See, I have weird issues with naming kids in memory of someone else (I may not like them but I'm big on the 'letting them be themselves' and naming them only after someone... I don't know, it's almost a personal squick). I'm all for meaningful middle names though! Which is why my Federbear would be bet on Robin Peter Federer for a boy's name. :)

That said, this is Roger and he does like to be an unpredictable little git. He'll probably come up with something totally random so no one wins any bets. ^_^

While I'm just replying you for the baby news, I just thought I'd chime in and say some radio personality actually named her son 'Lewis Lewis.' Apparently she and her husband joked about it and by the time the poor kid arrived, they'd decided to do it.

Ooohhhhhhhhh that's wrong. That poor kid is going to hate them for it forever; not to mention you can't even shorten Lewis to a nickname to ease off on it. They'd better buy him a damn shiny car after high school to apologise for the amount of crap he's going to get.

(I am going to be so terrible to follow for baby news. Right now I'm just hoping it shows before August so we get Roger in Montreal but Roger Federer is somehow the best liar by omission in the world so no one has a clue what date to watch for. I almost expect her to have it and them to not tell anyone for a week. Or possibly at all, until Roger shows up in Montreal with sleep deprivation and big dorky grin. He would. He's sneaky like that.)
