I'm going home tomorrow (but I don't get home until the day after! Fun times!). *sadface* It's close enough for me to check the weather for when I land on Friday (it's barely 15 degrees over the next few days; I was expecting at least up to the twenties from what I've been hearing about crazy weather back there wtf?) and my 'rentals want my flight details and you know, I have less than no money left so it's good I'm going, and yes I know I've been complaining about hostels and repacking my backpack for the forty millionth time but... that was when I wasn't two days from going home. There's still stuff I haven't bought! There's still stuff I haven't done! Except the Rod Lave arena tour which we're planning to do Thursday as one of my Last Day Things so I can giggle at the locker rooms and spend too much in the little shop (I don't know if they have a little shop but I'm guessing they do. If backpacking has taught me anything, it's that everywhere will have a little shop).

[livejournal.com profile] irradiatedsoup we're planning on heading in for the tennis centre tour at 1pm, then do the acquarium after (the tennis tour should finish around 2:15-2:30pm) so you can come do the tennis tour with us or just the acquarium or whatever. :) I have my phone but don't have any credit left, so let me know on the interwebs tonight or just text me where you are tomorrow and we'll come find you.

And that'll be it.Which is weird but you know, home will be nice. And I'm only there a week before I head to Newcastle & London anyway, so it's not like I'll have time to get bored. It's just oh, Australia. Why do you have to be so far away?

But anyway right now I have some time to kill so have That Icon Meme, gacked from [livejournal.com profile] kindoftrouble:

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

[livejournal.com profile] kindoftrouble picked:

1.

This is my generic Wimbledon icon, which means it gets used at least once a day for about three weeks over June/July then left to sit forlornly in an icon space until the next year. It's lasted when all my other Wimbledon icons over the years haven't because there's no text for me to get tired of, I love the way the colours are slightly muted but so Wimbledony, and that I chose to only have half the name. Because Wimbledon is so awesome, it needs no full name.

I also love the logo with the crossed racquets. It's very traditional and pretty; definitely the prettiest of the Slam logos.

2.

I tend to avoid using other people's icons; it feels like cheating when I can use Photoshop myself but sometimes there's one that's just too cute or too perfect to resist. I needed Derren Brown icons for all the times I flailed like crazy over his wonderfulness and when I came across [livejournal.com profile] strangeumbrella's post I liked the way she kept them very simple with emphasis on the strong colours to support the adorable pictures. Despite being worryingly likely to take over the world on the day he stops getting distracted by shiny objects, Derren Brown does take an awesome picture.

I labelled it 'not psychic; just awesome' because if I had to describe Derren Brown in four words or less, that's how.

3.

I wasn't massively fond of Inkheart the book; I think it felt a little clunky and drawn out but the film had Paul Bettany and Brendan Fraser, then [livejournal.com profile] make_a_move mentioned shirtless and Paul Bettany together so of course I made her go see it again with me (not that there was much persuasion needed).

And there was shirtless Paul Bettany twirling fire and fondling it and cooing over it like it was a freaking kitten so, naturally, I came right home after and went looking for pictures to icon. This one was off the official poster which is pretty. I had to copypaste a bit of extra fire into his hands to get it into the icon space and to get the close-up of his face I wanted I had to crop out all the shirtlessness (*woes*) but I love how the colours turned out. I don't have enough reason to use the Paul Bettany prettiness.

Incandescence came about because I wanted a fiery sort of word to finish it off but couldn't think of any. This is when thesaurus.com is your friend.

4.

Everyone else had a squee icon and I wanted one. Along came Tim Bisley aka Simon Pegg with his Amazing Face of Glee; after much cursing at the coat hooks in the background and lots of colour filters to make them fade as much as possible, I had my squee icon. I use it when I want to flail rather than just approving of something cool (which is what my John Simm 'made of awesome' icon is for).

And yes, Simon Pegg's eyes really are that blue.

5.

This is my favourite Roger icon. I wanted an icon that kind of referenced the difference between the Roger everyone sees, the idealised reflection, and the Roger that actually is. If that makes sense. And then it was just one of those icons where I liked the filters and the sharpening and everything without making a million slightly-different versions first.

I don't know if I'd change the writing if I did it again; not what it says because that was the point but it's right on the edge of unreadable-to-the-point-of-annoyingness. I still like the way it looks though. Mmmm.

6.

Hah hah, I was wondering if [livejournal.com profile] kindoftrouble would pick this one. ^_^ I love this icon which, considering my not-exactly-secret feelings for Nadal, might come as a shock but if years of fandom have taught me anything, it's that I like my fanfic full of angst. Roger/Nadal could be full of angst. It should be full of angst; it begs for it.

And not the happy fluffy 'whoops we bought each other the same Christmas present' type of angst either but the type with sharp, pointy objects. With buying stocks in bondage gear. I want the fic where they hate each other but need each other and hate that too.

Maybe I won't get around of that fic anytime soon but I've got the icon for it if I do.

I've been kicking around the idea of writing that fic for years so I guess I'm just hanging onto the icon until the day I get around to writing it. It helps that I love the way the filter worked, with Nadal in shadow and Roger spotlighted, and the colours of the font overlay. The only thing I would change is the font of this feeling which is annoyingly tidy and kind of wrong for the whole icon. It's been years since I touched that font, which shows how long I've hung on to this icon for.

If you want me to pick some of your icons, you might be waiting until Saturday because tomorrow night I'm spending almost twenty-four hours travelling and then at least eight sleeping that off. I won't have forgotten! It's taken me five days to finish this post though. Um. Maybe make that Sunday.

Later I have to pack for the last time. Mmmm, that cannot be over soon enough.

Excellent! I will meet you at the aquarium after, as I've seen Rod Laver many times. I'll be there at 2.30 and wait for you guys at the front entrance.

*clings back* I know! Not to mention that I have FIVE PACKETS of TimTams in my backpack and it still won't be enough. And I'll be as far away as I can be from Paul McDermott without actually heading back towards him again. S'not fair. We should just move Australia and the UK closer together.
