Last night I picked a book at random off my bookcase and ended up rereading The House of Many Ways. This morning my new iPod shuffle arrived, looking ridiculously cute and dinky and adorable.

You would think these two things are unconnected and you'd be right... until you asked what I've named my iPod shuffle.

It's not like Twinkle isn't a perfectly respectable name. No, really. ...Sort of.

I desperately want to buy the third series of BSG. I've held out for months and months and didn't get it for Christmas but I know there's no point because even if I did have time to watch mini-series and three seasons back-to-back before I go, I certainly can't afford/won't have time for the fourth so I'd just have to rewatch them all anyway when I get back and buy it. Argh. I blame Jamie Bamber for being in Law and Order: UK and looking so utterly delicious, especially with the totally unexpected accent.

I also shouldn't buy it because I just bought a second copy of American Gods to take on the flight to Oz (actually a third copy; I already own both the original and extended paperbacks but I wanted the extended one for the flight and since I'm planning to abandon it in Oz somewhere, I didn't want to take my dissertation copy) and I should be thinking of buying something I haven't read to take too but if I pick something I don't like... I wish Bloodhound was out now. Maybe when I buy it in Oz, I should save it for the flight back. Hm. Or The Demon's Lexicon if it's out in Oz then. Or both. And more! (Wait, didn't I decide something about buying books in Australia...?)

At the moment I'm hovering between Wicked Lovely and Knife. Maybe I'll just buy both and give them away in Oz. I still need to read The Modern World too but I don't know if I'm up to a half-crazy flying drug addict narrator on a twenty-plus hour flight. There are things to be raved over when it comes to Steph Swainston but she's not exactly a calming read.

Planes should come equipped with libraries, just like trains should come equipped with Starbucks. This would solve many, many problems.

edit: Alright assuming that release date also applies to Oz, I'm not going to be able to sit on Bloodhound for a whole extra two weeks. Buggere alle this for a larke, I'll be reading it soon as I get my grubby travelled-worn fingers on it (I need to sort out my itinerary so I can be near a bookstore around then and have time to read. Mmmm.(

A lot of the hostels that my sister stayed in had a book exchange thingy. So that you could donate a book you didn't want to lug around and pick up a shiny new one!

The most shocking thing about this was that my sister read books.

Oooo, that is a fabulous idea. I really should be looking at Australia instead of stuck in a book but this is me and book-stickage is inevitable and this way, much cheaper! Yay! :D

Maybe if your sister only lived in hostels she'd eventually be the most well-read person in the world! You should drop hints to your parents. ;-)
