Djokovic, you know how I like you now? I will like you less again if you lose this match.

Regarding another Fairly Important tennis match that's on right now, this is the first time ever that I've been actively cheering for the Bryans to lose. It's on odd feeling because I like the Bryans, I really do. I just love Roger a lot more.

Which is probably why I now have a list of Possibly Cruel But Inventive Ways to Stop Nadal Winning A Medal. So far it includes putting butter on the bottom of his shoes, itching powder in his shorts, cutting the elastic in his socks so he is constantly annoyed by them falling down and attaching powerful magnets to his water bottles so I can sit at the side of the court and move them out of line from a distance. Oh and hiring all the horse riders who're bitter about not winning anything and getting them to stampede through Nadal's side of the court during important points. Possibly yelling "RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!" just for added hilarity.

And you think I am joking. Hah.

The nickname the father has settled on for Djokovic is 'Ostrich'. My newfound liking of him wasn't enough to stop me laughing rather too much.

edit: I am so happy for Roger right now. It's not a singles medal but it'll be a medal and that's still awesome beyond words, far, far better than no medal at all. Oh Roger. Let this be the thing that carries you into the US Open because if you win an Olympic medal and a Grand Slam, I hardly think anyone could call this year a failure. And it might bring back the old Roger of beautiful tennis, who really hasn't been around in far too long.

They knocked the Austrians out, that's more than enough to make me cheer against them (see also Nadal and Zvonereva).

I'm trying hard not to cheer against people on the basis of 'they knocked out someone I like' because I'd end up cheering against people I like and feel bad; sometimes I almost want someone who beat Roger or Andy to win more because of it, because you know it's nice to think you were knocked out by the eventual champion rather than the guy who lost in the next round. Nadal is the exception because, well. There is a limit to my patience and he's beaten Roger a lot this year.

9/10ths of the time I wouldn't, except this is the Olympics and Austria need all the medals they can get to beat Switzerland.

itching powder in his shorts

this will excite him more though, he lives for scratching his bum.

I did wonder if it would be more help than annoyance but I figure it'll probably be quite distracting and he scratches his bum such a lot, no one will think there's anything weird going on. It's the perfect disguise. ;)

I shouted things of varying outrage at the screen for most of the match (at one point, "Djokovic, if you can't beat him fairly then bribe a ballboy to kneecap him!" and then my parents suggested maybe I should stop watching before I threw something at the TV. Ahem.)

Haha, that list of plans reminded me of all the doodles in Creative Writing, of he-who-will-not-be-mentioned-here.

I knew it would turn out to be excellent practice for something in future! ;) My International Career of Tennis Crime will be all thanks to our hatred of he-who-will-not-be-named-here. We could release a book; "Stick Man Doodles For the Burgeoning Criminal".
