Something interesting my ITF commentator has pointed out a few times, is that there are staggering amounts of insects on and around the tennis courts, especially after dark. He said the ballboys spend a lot of time chasing the dragonflies that land on court. Has anyone who's actually watching TV coverage noticed it?

I couldn't play tennis with insects landing on me. I'd be about to serve and an insect would land on my arm and I'd run across the court going "AAARGGH."

...

I kind of want to see one of the players run across the court yelling "AAARGGH" now. Heh.

edit More gems courtesy of ITF: "Federer has taken to referring to Wawrinka as 'Stanley' - let's hope there's no Laurel and Hardy end to Roger's third quest for Olympic medals."

*Stanley*? I'd love to hear the conversation where that happened.

I think you've got it! Obviously all Roger's UEs are caused by him trying to bat away an insect with his racket! I would freak as well if one landed on me...I hate big bugs.

Alize Cornet was today attacked by a dragonfly. =P She was about to serve and it landed in front of her so she started flicking at it with her racquet and it obviously took flight and started flying towards her because she jumped backwards like it was about to explode and then sort of jogged worriedly to the side. Then it landed, she poked at it some more and it got stuck on the end of her racquet. So she went over to the side and randomly shook her racquet up and down trying to get it off. One for the history books, I wonder if it's on youtube! =P

And Stanley is awesome. There should be more Roger/Stan fic in the world.
