Mar. 5th, 2008 11:15 pmDear Torchwood, that was so bad. Could've been good, even though the idea's been done a million times but no. Take a fail card and move on. Alternatively give Ianto and Jack their own show, because I would enjoy Harkness and Jones way more than Torchwood demonstrating their incredible incompetence.
Again. Honestly. I'm amazed these peple manage to dress themselves in the morning. who else pegged the woman in black as the mother shapeshifter the moment she showed up? Dude, subtly Torchwood. Take some classes in it. Like, working Jack's past marriage into the actual plot to replace some of the pointless dialogue and Tosh being a bitch to some poor unsuspecting dork. (It's enough that you named him after a fruit already, even if it did set up Tosh's geekily awesome brush-off.) You have a horrendously under-utilised Jack/Ianto relationship (which if my parents complain about it one more time like they do every sodding episode, will probably get me kicked out of the house for calling them something rude) so use it to expand on their characters. Have them actually share personal moments that involve something other than sex references.
You do get some brownie points back for having Jack be the shapeshifter though. I was begging - loudly - for it to be the shapeshifter or I might've actually turned you off. Also, I think you discovered a look that even John Barrowman cannot pull off... sort of. He did kind of look like a confused puppy when he couldn't work out Owen. A confused, rabid, killer puppy. Aw.
The trailer for next week did not instill me with any confidence. Oh Torchwood. What happened? You'd better be good the week after next, because that I will be watching with
kindoftrouble and we will mock you if you suck. Mock you even more than usual. ;)
In news unrelated to Torchwood's incompetence, came home from work to find a message from That Woman at Waterstone's asking if I wanted to work Saturday and Sunday. Haven't made my mind up yet but I'm leaning toward no. Partly because of That Woman and partly because they don't pay enough to make two days a week worth it and partly because it would make looking for other jobs harder.
But I'm not sure. It'd be around an extra £80 a week. Is that worth my weekend? :-/ I don't know.
