Have discovered way to remain totally unstressed during the mountain of work I now have to do. Watching
because, once again, it has Simon prancing around in what're effectively swimming trunks. I'm starting to think he likes that more than can be healthy. But 'tis hilarious and de-stressing.

Also, I'd seen it before Hot Fuzz and totally forgotten. When someone mentioned the film I was all "Haven't heard of that, huh." But I had. Lies, all lies.

Still have around 4,000 words of non-fiction to reach before I sleep tonight. Vaguely mortified, since I have no idea how I'm going to do it. I don't even know what I'm supposed to be writing for non-fiction, since we never quite worked out what it was meant to be. Non-fiction about you that lies in an interesting way to make it a story. Right. My life? Totally not a story. Sitting in front of the computer does not have a beginning, a middle and an end.

... What've I done that's interesting people? That I could conceivably make into a story. Mmm. I guess that... or...

It's so, so tempting to make something up. Like "My Love Affair with Simon Pegg" or "The Day I Stole An Elephant.' Tempting. Mmmmmm. Well if it makes me work...

Non Fiction? Yuck. Does it have to be about you? If so, uhm. Write about going to Wimbledon or something. If it doesn't have to be about you, write about Roger beating Nadal at Wimbledon. ;-D

Yep, all about me. Though we're allowed to lie as much as we want, so I could pretend to be Roger beating Nadal at Wimbledon. ;-D

Well, write about going to see tennis. Or... hell, I don't know. :-)

Write about the time all the Inmates got together and went... well.... insane!

Curious though. If it's non fiction, why are you allowed to lie? *raises eyebrow*

I think I've thought of something. Annoyingly something that I didn't really talk about in my LJ so I haven't got much reference but it's got a beginning, a middle and an end. Sort of.

*giggles* I'm not sure the best writer in the world could predict the insanity that will happen when the Inmates finally meet. ^_^

Because apparently the published non-fiction people do it all the time. Tutor said it's like telling a story down the pub; it has a grain of truth somewhere in there but the fish always this big, which is a foot bigger with every re-telling.

Also, I think they don't want to be bored by piece after piece about ten students getting drunk and want something entertaining to read all year. ^_~

Awesome for you. :-D Yay. Now write it! *pokes*

*grin* This is probably true. But it'll be fun. Though whether we all survive is another story....

Ah. Okay, I get it. Didn't think there was a difference, but I get it. ;-)

And yeah, that's probably true as well. That'd get rather boring after the... oh, first paragraph of the first one?

Would you feel comfotable discussing fandom and the impact it's had on you/friends you've made?

*ponders* Maybe. Except, that inevitably involves mentioning slash and maybe that's a can of worms best left alone. Plus one of my tutors turned her nose up at online writing last term, so trying to talk it up might be fighting a losing battle.

(To be honest, fandom and online people might be a book's worth in itself. I don't know which part I'd pick. :) )

*chips in* Oh, I remember *that* particular discussion with that particular tutor and that particular annoyingly pretentious and self-important person classmate. If it were another time I'd say go for it, open the can of worms and force the tutors to reassess their preconceptions of online writing with a shit-hot piece that defends its corner. It could be really good - you could make it equal parts essay and from-your-own-experience creative non-fiction.

But ... it *is* your third year portfolio, so it depends on if you think the tutors might get all snarky over the idea of online writing that has credibility. (Shock! Horror! Yes, your writing has merit whether it's published in a book or on a webpage - there is real quality on the internet!!)

If you think it's too risky though, it's totally the sort of thing you should write another time. ^_^

Um, thinking, thinking, thinking.

I don't suppose you play sports do you? It's either that or gig stories, or travelling stories.

I don't, though I wrote something about when I used to go horse-riding that's getting rewritten to put in. Also, not such a great gig person. Though travelling, travelling... *ponders*
