*is grouchy*
Jun. 28th, 2003 06:24 pmI'm in grouch mode again. I'm bored, but not bored, just pissed off. My net isn't helping - Explorer keeps crashing whenever I try to do anything. I'm just..... In the mood to take kikc boxing or something. Breaking things. Fun. Plus my parents aren't helping... they're in nag-mode. "Why aren't you looking for a job, why aren't you doing this, why aren't you doing that....." And I can't scream back because my aunt and uncle are here. Joy.
I've ranted about OotP so often this last week that I'm starting to get tired of hearing myself. The book had good points, I know it did because I loved Fred and george and as much as Umbridge was hatable, she was a beautifully done character - to make everyone hate a acharacter *that* much takes doing. But still... I can't get away from all the stuff I disliked. Although someone just pointed out something that may ease the pain slightly.... better put it in a cut off for those of you still reading -
This is from the Sirius Black fan club, Immeritus which can be found here: http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/ This post was on the OotP forum in response to a question of Harry turning evil.
I don't think Harry will turn evil. One of the reasons JK let Sirius die was to teach Harry a lesson, I think. Harry had to learn to deal with the consequences of his actions and he had to learn not to act out of anger. He also had to learn to listen to people who were trying to help him even if it were people he isn't fond of like Snape.... If Harry would have been able to block out Voldemort out of his mind, Sirius would still be alive. If Harry would have listened to everybody around him, the only person who was like family to him would not have died. If he would have used the mirror Sirius gave him, he would have known that Sirius wasn't in danger. He should have trusted him.
Harry didn't think first, but acted first. So Harry's actions did in some way kill his godfather and put his friends into danger. So Harry had to learn the hard way, that he should use his brain before he acts out of anger. That will make it possible for him to defeat Voldemort. Well, it's not just Harry's fault, but also Dumbledore's, so both of them might learn something from Sirius' death after all and so give good the chance to win at the end. At least that way Sirius death would not be completely meaningless...
And I still don't totally give up hope that if Harry learns this lesson that he might get rewarded somehow with the chance of bringing a person back from the death. I would find that quite interesting because Harry would have to chose between Sirius and his parents.(Well, guess who'd I be hoping he'd bring back.)
*sighs* As much as that last sentence screams "Wishful Thinking!", I'm crossing my fingers. The idea of Harry having to chose between his parents and Sirius is fascinating and personally, I think Sirius is the logical choice. But Rowling herself has said she cried when she killed him. Suggestions of permenancy there. Maybe someone should show her this forum and say "Look! The fans have good ideas! Pay some damned attention!"
Rant over.
I'm still debating buying a second copy of OotP and going through it with a red pen, editing all the stuff I feel is pointless. Betcha it'd be at least a hundred and fifty pages shorter. But of course I'm a small, pointless fan who's only had the book on order since January. I know nothing. *cheerfully waves a banner saying 'I Know Nothing!'"*
Actually reading all these theories about why characters did this and why characters did that is just as depressing as reading the book. I DON'T WANT TO KNOW ANYMORE! *shuts off the HP fandom* I'll brandish my Sirius Lives icons and leave it at that. Screw debating. Screw Rowling. Screw the entire HP fandom. I am from this point on ignoring the fact that Book 5ever happened. Hell yes. Oh, except for the icon part.
Okay the rant is now DEFINITELY over.
I have glass paints. Much purty. Plus I have a wine glass to paint so I'll have to think of some design to do on it. I'm painting trees and purple roses on another glass. I need more colours though since I only have black and purple. ^__^ *looks at journal colours* Hey look, black and purple! There's something spooky about that....
Usually I like Wimbledon (it's almost hyponotising to watch the tennis balls go back and to ^-^) I just haven't had any inclination to get into it this year. Strange. Though I'm so used to Henman losing by now that it isn't even surprising anymore.
*shivers* It's been too hot for weeks and now it's kinda cold. I thought Welsh weather had ceased to surprise me but apparently not. I still want to go on my bike ride tomorrow morning though, unless we have torrential rain and/or thunderstorms. *looks beseechingly at the sky* I'd like a little sun if it's not too much trouble.....
Went shopping earlier and got a new skirt, crop trousers and knee length socks (black and white stripes!) But the trousers don't fit. And my dad refused to spend £15 for the Blade and Dogma dvds. *cries* They were two for £15 in MVC and I would have killed for them. I've wanted Blade for about the last year and never had the money for it. *sighs* Now I'll end up spending £30 on them in the future. Damn.
Okay, off to eat dinner now. Not really hungry since I had a chocolate crepe when out shopping. Can't beat chocolate crepes.
