I never knew Denmark apparently has rules about what you can name your baby. I get the idea behind it -- naming a baby Apple is, in my opinion, effectively child abuse -- but having to get approval for Molli-with-an-i? Really, why bother with the paperwork?

We almost moved to Denmark when I was about ten you know. Makes me wonder what they would've made of my brother spelling his name the Welsh way.

Hehe, I hate it when people give their kids odd names just to be unique (like spelling names weird, not unique names). I guess that comes from having a gaelic name and EVERYBODY spelling it wrong, and then coming across people who spell it phonetically and hating them becuase they don't hvae to deal with being called "Sigh oh ban" all the time. It's a little much to have a law against it though. "Apple" doesn't bother me TOO much, but I think that as long as there's some sort of origin of a name it should be fine, just as long as the spelling isn't made up :-/

Heh, though that reminds me of how my name and one of my sister's names are spelled the gaelic way, and my little sister's name is anglicized, because apparently when she was born, there was a car being produced with a name similar to the gaelic spelling of hers, so my parents didn't want people to think she'd been named after a car, hehe.

Helen is maybe one of the easiest names in the world to spell (though I have a friend who purposefully spells it Hellin), so maybe that's why odd spellings don't bother me so much. Your name is very cool but I guess it balances against the difficulty of other people spelling/saying it. :-/ (Though I have to admit, with your first Christmas card I had to ask my dad how to pronounce it. Which, when my brother has the same 'Si' sound in his, is... embarrassing. *shame*) Laws about it are definitely a bit much when it's just that parents just need to think a bit more carefully sometimes.

^_^ Unfortunate coincidences. At least your parents caught it though. :)

LOL, yes. I've met very few people who can pronounce it on the first try. It was brutal during elementary school, let me tell you that. Now at my job, half of the people call me "See bo han" and it drives me INSANE.

Awww, not so embarrasing. Even I screw up pronounciations with other people sometimes. :)

LOL, yeah. Actually, I don't think it was the EXACT name, but it was similar, so tthey didn't want people to mispronounce it and call her th ename of the car. I htink that was it.

Here in the Phlippines we have insane names like Jhonnilynn. ajkfldjksa.

Insane to have a law though.

O_O Wow. Suddenly I'm a little bit glad my 'rents called me something simple. How is that pronounced?

*nods* Definitely.

I can see why some people might feel the need to do that. I'm torn though. On one hand yeah some names should never be forced upon kids. But on the other hand, how many Jacks and Annes do we need in this world?

A question: Where did you get the picture for that icon, cause, YUMMMY.

Exactly; I can kinda see where they were coming from originally but questioning something simple like 'Molli' makes me think it's gone a step too far. And if names are regulated, new names would never get popular. There's a lot of names out there that wouldn't have been acceptable a hundred, fifty, years ago and a lot of them are pretty cool.

*grins* I found it on one of my rare trips into the murky depths of the forums on his site. There's a couple from that shoot, the one from the icon and another one. It was suggested they're from when he was voted International Man of Sexiness by People magazine (I think), though I don't know. All I care about is that they're pretty. ^_^

I'm kinda late here, but girl, you actually went to his forum? And you're still alive. You're brave.

And those pics minus the feet are pure hotness.

I know. I only do it for the pictures and even then I have to cling to my sanity. Official forums are scary, scary places.

He does kinda have prehensile toes. I guess weird feet are better than a lot of things; they're hidden in shoes and socks most of the time. ;-)

*giggles* That'd be like, the least surprising casting announcement ever. Though, I thought metro-men wore great outfits *all* the time? ;)

Even metro-man is not immune to the occasional fashion disaster, planned by his arch-nemesis, Dr. Fugly.
