Um. The bizarrity that is my life.
Feb. 2nd, 2007 08:29 amSo. Acusatory-Hoodie Fresher broke her phone yesterday. This fact becomes important when I add that she does not own a watch, a computer, a TV or any other form of telling the time.
Add to this the fact that sheis completely and utterly insane worries way more about missing seminars and lectures than is normal for a first year and you get the frantic knock at my door that just happened.
Usually I won't answer my door if I'm in bed (and it's at a reasonable time for someone to be asleep, though I usually won't answer if I'm having a nap either.) Not really sure what made me get up this time, only I was awake anyway and I'd gone to bed early (for me) and I was feeling charitable. So, I rolled out of bed and staggered blindly to the door.
To be greeted with a almost-hyperventilating fresher, saying she thinks she'd overslept -- (by the way, I just looked out the window and THE SUN IS STILL RISING, WTF) -- and missed her seminar and she was panicking and stresstresstress. And I was there saying breathe and look, they honestly do not care if you miss one seminar, they wouldn't care if you missed five or six, just email your tutor and say sorry or hell, just turn up next week and they won't even notice. So she started to calm down, and then asked tearfully if it was about 11am or so, to which I offered to lend her one of my watches (this early morning vengence was clearly because I hadn't thought to do it yesterday when she first told me of the phone breakage.)
And closer inspection of the watch -- both watches, because she didn't quite believe it -- proved it was half eight and her seminar wasn't until nine, so she hadn't missed it after all.
I-- I am so not awake enough to be hugged by a tearfully grateful Christian. Really. What is with our freshers this year? First opening the door to K holding out a hand dripping with blood and now this. At least Surly Fresher has her minions (she really does have real, proper minions but that's another LJ tale) so she turns to them first.
And now, I am so going back to bed. Cannot cope with more surprises.
Add to this the fact that she
