Twenty minutes into watching this week's Torchwood and...

Oh for the love of smeg, you were doing so. Damn. Well. Don't steal the plot that Unbreakable and Buffy and, well, pretty much everyone has done better before. Please don't. I was enjoying it so much and I'd like to keep enjoying it which I won't if it turns into a rip-off of one of my favourite movies. Just don't.

Otherwise, up until this point? Nifty episode.

YES! I knew you could do it! You did the Unbreakable thing but it wasn't *the* plot, it was a *plot point* and that is so cool.

Even more cool is Gwen/Owen going on or not-going on as the case may be.

But none of that, any of it, is anywhere near as cool as the whole Tosh:*listens to Jack's thoughts* Jack: *WTFSOMEONEINMYHEAD* Tosh: *wibbles* HE HAS NO THOUGHTS, LIEK WHOA. Both of them: *act like nothing just happened*

Yeah, I just ruined that scene in summary but rest assured, it was COOL.

Yes. Back to it then. I love this episode so far.

This episode made me squee so hard! Especially since they seen to want to flesh out all the characters, not just a select few.

I just wish Ianto would just progress beyond emo. *is a horrible person* I'm trying to like him, honest.

Me too, though they do like to end on a sense of hopelessness rather than a positive don't they? -_- Even with that, this had to be one of the best, if not *the* best episode so far.

Oh I know! I didn't half want to smack him -- there're limits to feeling sorry for yourself, really. Though, I guess Toshiko didn't make any extra effort with him even when she knew he was feeling like crap, so maybe it's more a comment on the rest of them.

If it helps, I dislike Owen less now. A little. ;)

Well, it's that kind of show, isn't it? ;) It's a dark world they all live in. Definitely one of the best, a lot of it due to the mental dialogue being SO well written.

I dunno for me his thoughts were just...they sounded like the worst goth brat emo non-rhyming poetry. I think my problem might be that I only saw the last 1/2 of the Cyberwoman episode and we only got Ianto's thoughts once, but...*shrugs*

LOL, I'm just glad that he has genuine feelings for Gwen. Plus she gives as good as she gets from.

Yeah but saying humanity basically sucks in its entirety without giving an upside is a pretty depressing message. ;) The mental dialogue made it, totally. *grins* I liked the guy mentally quoting "So, we meet again Mr Bond...". Because I so would think something like that, which is vaguely... embarrassing.

I don't know, it bugged me on the "oh grow up" level but, aside from what Mary said about it reading thoughts at the subconcious level (if she was telling the truth that is) so they don't know they're exactly thinking *that*, I also have some sympathy for him in his asshattery. They're all so wrapped up in themselves, they haven't even noticed he's ripping himself to pieces under the smiles and offers of coffee. I kinda found it one of moments that really gave me a wider picture of how they aren't anything like open with each other at all.

It did play much better to have him genuinely liking Gwen rather than having it simply be easy sex for him. I don't think his character could've stood another bashing from fandom for that. Definitely made him more interesting. But oh yeah, it really is. Even Gwen knows it and doesn't care.

Can't. >_< Literally caught this as I was turning the computer off to go to bed and I have to get up early enough to do washing before lecture tomorrow. Leave me a locked LJ post or something. ;)
