Please tell me some in my *third year creative writing* group didn't just have an intro to this week's piece that included this piece carries on from the first piece that i submitted last wk that u didnt need to read.. Because no one in *third year* writing groups has any excuse not to capitalise 'I''s and use netspeak and not use grammar, god, *grammar*. Please, someone, tell me I can stop scrubbing my eyes with the wire brush now.

At moments like this, I lose all faith in the future of the human race. Honestly. Just-- just *why*?

Going to go away to sob quietly into a pillow now.

I had a guy in my Intermediate Fiction (probably roughly equivalent to third year, I'm not quite sure how it all lines up) class who wrote critiques that were quite literally gibberish. That made you wonder if he had read the story. And were pretty much useless.

I still don't understand how he got into COLLEGE with writing like that, let alone managed to make it far enough as a writing major to be in an intermediate class.

*facepalm* I have no idea how these people slip through the cracks. You had to submit a portfolio 'to get on to' my course, yet half my first year seminar could barely manage to write a coherent sentence but -- especially so late in the course -- someone should've taken them aside and quite firmly told them they're doing the wrong degree.

I really do wonder about the state of modern education when it seems half the people at university can't even write something approaching English. Just wait; twenty years, give or take a little, we'll have newspapers written in netspeak. It'll be a sad day.

It's scary because it's true.
