Wimbledon pictures!

Because I finally got off my ass to do something today. :)



David. He was pretty, though I was sad he lost to Lleyton. (Honestly, I'm sad when anyone loses to Lleyton. ;-) ) It was looking to be a bit of a whitewash before he found a spine decided he wasn't going to be flattened so easily and turned it into a good match. Nothing really happened of interest, except one ball going over the wall at one end of the court into the little balcony where the BBC cameraman was sitting. David was standing just underneath the wall getting his towel from a ballgirl and as he turned to walk back across the court, the cameraman threw the ball back without seeing him it and it bounced off his head. ^_^ There was much giggling all round.

Also, our seats might've been a little further back than I would've liked, hence why pictures aren't up close and personal -- woe -- but omgshade. We were under the roof and got to mock all the people down courtside in the sun, trying to cool down by fanning themselves with programmes while we stayed nice and cool. ^_^ There's a picture later showing where we were exactly.

We skipped Mauresmo's match because eh, neither of us really cared and went for ice cream. Haagen Dazs strawberries and cream ice cream = <3. We didn't walk around so much this year so we didn't bump into anyone which was sad -- also we went on the middle Saturday last year, so there were a few more people still around -- but I did drag R over to the competitor's entrance for a few minutes and utterly embarassed myself by squinting at a tall, dark-haired guy walking right past me and going "I know him from somewhere." It took the guy next to me yelling "GORAN!" for it to click and by that point he had his back to us and I couldn't get a photo. :(

(I didn't admit my shameful lack of Goran knowledge to kindoftrouble while I was within hitting distance. ;-) I value my life far too much.)

After walking past Henmen Hill and seeing Baghdatis getting interviewed on the big screen, we kind of figured Murray had lost and I foolishly said he did not exist to me for the next two years. So, I now have to ignore Murray until 2008 and yeah, like that'll happen but I was annoyed enough at him to mean it at the time. We later found out it was kindoftrouble's fault he lost, because we think she jinxed him. ;-) I'd say blame her but she stopped us dying in London so don't.

After ice cream and not-recognising Goran, we went back up to our gangway and waited for a gap in the women's match for us to be let back in and to wait for Nadal vs Labadze.

Rafa is pretty in person. :) He doesn't look as young and I like him more. Not enough to forgive him past transgressions, not totally but enough to take many pictures of him looking extremely pretty.
























I didn't take all that many pictures of Labadze, because I managed to have the camera turned off every time he did something funny and well, he wasn't pretty. :) But he was hilarious and there was a serious cheering war going on by the end of the match. Every time someone would yell "COME ON NADAL!", someone -- sometimes me ;-) -- would yell back "COME ON LABADZE!" Me and R also kindofsortof started a slow clap that went around the entire crowd when he was arguing with the umpire. ^_^ He put his arm around one of the line judges at one point too and everyone cracked up. ^_^ He was awesome and it's sad we don't see more of him. Tennis needs more people who can play great tennis but be a showman at the same time.

Just a couple of general ones from around the grounds:

With the sun going down during Rafa's match, it was catching the roof of Court One beautifully. This also shows off where we were actually sitting. I definitely need a camera with 12x zoom for next year (I had my dad's 10x digital this year. Wish I'd had it last year when we were in the front row on Court Two.)


The 2006 at the top of Henman Hill, written in absolutely perfect flowers. :)



I did take a lot more pictures but I'm too lazy to resize and upload them all and really, there's only so many pictures of Rafa serving that you need. ;-) I do have a nice one of me and kindoftrouble at the top of Henman Hill that I'll probably be getting printed and framed because I have no nice pictures of myself at Wimbledon framed yet and I want one. I have to get the rest printed too which I think will be a job for tomorrow or maybe for when I've stolen got some off wolves8's and kindoftrouble's cameras that I'd like.

After Rafa's match finished and we'd taken pictures on Henman Hill, kindoftrouble took us to the restaurant in Wimbledon village where Andy went to for breakfast every day. Needless to say none of the tennis players were there or you'd have had a very squeeful phone post but it was awesome regardless and I'm thinking it should be made into a Wimbledon trip tradition.

So, another year at Wimbledon that went awesomely and without mishap, mainly due to kindoftrouble's chaperoning. :D I didn't buy hardly anything because the shop was too busy and hot but I've got my eye on a certain necklace which shall be mine via the website if I get good enough results for this year at uni. My reward. :)

This Wimbledon seems to have turned into one of me seeing everyone you want to and you seeing everyone I want to. *sighs* Wimbledon, you are much with the screwy. I really didn't recognise him at all. I knew I'd seen him before but couldn't have said where if my life depended on it.

I should and maybe I will later. ;) Though I still owe Mila fic too.

Wimbledon is totally screwy like that. It hates us, it does. I still can't believe you didn't recognise him. I had OMGGLEE when he walked onto Centre Court and couldn't believe he was actually there. It was awesome :D

He is pretty. It's kind of sad that other people would've liked to see him up close much more than me, who was kind of "eh, I guess Rafa's okay." And really, we weren't up close. ;-) The trickery of a great camera.

Having seen the awesome ones you took at Cincy last year, that means a lot. :) Thank you. It's digital, because I tried film last year and it didn't work even with us sitting right at the front. All the playing tennis ones have the zoom up as far as it would go though. *sighs* If we'd been just a few rows closer, they would've been better.
