Today hasn't been disastrous, on the productivity level. Went to opticians, remembered just how fun eye tests are -- although I gave my optician a "WTF?" moment when I told him I'm learning to knit -- and I'm not going crazy thinking I couldn't see the whiteboard in lectures properly, because I do need a new prescription. Even better, he's found a tricksy way to get me some new, free contacts for a month. I'm not complaining. *Free*. New glasses can wait a while, because not free and also, very broke.
And then I went to get my hair cut. I just turned up and asked when they could fit me in instead of booking a time with the girl who usually cuts it, so I had no idea what it was going to turn out like with the random girl. And, inevitably, I got home and realised I hated it, because she'd cut it waaaaaay too square in front. So I attacked the front with scissors to put layers in it. I know, I know, £23+ for a haircut and I go and attack it with scissors the moment I get home. She had just totally ignored that I asked for layers in front though and, despite this sudden craze for square-cut long hair, it makes me look stupid so I layered it. I even managed not to screw it up too badly, so now I'm happy. Aside from the weirdness of going from hair-halfway-down-my-back to hair-just-below-my-shoulders, it's much better. *Lighter*, my head feels like it weighs half as much as before which is so much better for the summer, not to mention my sanity. I just wish I could get it as smooth as the hairdressing people do. Damn them and their inanely-expensive hair products.
Nevermind; it's getting stripes hennaed into it in a couple of weeks, red and black. It's really going to be an experiment to see how bright I can get the henna. Expect screamswhen if it goes wrong.
I've been so boring lately. >_< And also, useless. I still haven't answered and email from over a month okay and I'm starting to have serious guilt issues. First thing tomorrow, I'm catching up on all that and then starting work on coursework. Which probably means I should go do fun stuff now since the real work starts tomorrow.
Oh and yes, I really am learning to knit. *facepalm* Don't ask.

"£23+ for a haircut"
Jesus! I'd never pay more than a fiver!
"Starting tomorrow."
Coming to Pizza Hut and maybe out or whatever tomorrow with everyone? I thought Hill had actually done some organisation.

Date: 2006-04-04 05:21 pm (UTC)I only go about twice a year, so it's worth it. ;) Plus they put around £20 worth of hair product stuff on which helps. I don't think there's anywhere I could go where I *would* only pay a fiver to get my hair cut, I always want layers and complicated stuff that they charge more for.
What?! First I've heard of it. 'Tomorrow' as in Wednesday? Because I'm there, if you didn't mean tonight and I've missed it. :-/
