Just saw Chronicles of Narnia for the second time and enjoyed it even more. it looks nothing like Lord of the Rings, which was my biggest worry when I heard they were filming it in new Zealand but instead, it just looks like *Narnia*. And the kids can act, which is just wonderful after sitting through the first two Potter films and wincing.

And [livejournal.com profile] squishy_monkey, sitting next to me, jumped when Maugrim leapt up under Edmund's feet. ;) Better than the person in Cardiff who actually shrieked out loud. I spotted Orieus the centaur at the end this time too which made me happy, since I didn't know if he'd died the first time round.

It still makes me sad to think of poor Tumnus though, left behind at the end and never knowing what happened to Lucy. It didn't bother me so much in the book I don't think, but in this it did. :( I know I found Lucy/Tumnus Narnia fic a long time back though, before the film was so much as a LotR-hype-inspired twinkle in some producer's eye and now I'm wondering where it was. Rare Lit fic maybe. Hhhmm. It was very dark but very good.

[livejournal.com profile] rainy_roz asked me if I'd thought of any Howl's Moving Castle slash yet and my immediate reaction was Howl/Calcifer but I've never actually come across a fandom for it, not that I've looked. Diana Wynne Jones fic, hmm. It must be out there somewhere.

Dad borrowed a The Who album from his golf club boss for me. :) I know he's just trying to get me into music he likes to listen to too, but it's nice that he remembered I showed an interest a while back. Plus it's a damn good album.

As of today, all my present shopping is done. I'm hoping all the cards I sent will get to people on time, though I may be seriously pushing my luck only sending them last Thursday. I know [livejournal.com profile] greeniebach's won't get there on time given that I only sent it yesterday but there are cards on their way to everyone! :) Next year I promise to be more organised.

I'm actually excited about Christmas now. ^_^ Doctor Who special! Presents! No chance of snow this year I don't think but I did get some last year, so I can't complain. :)

I need a Christmas icon.

Narnia was gooood. The only thing that really reminded me of LotR was the battle scene. I was really glad the kids could act, it definitely made the film better :D (I haven't seen any of the HP films but any time Orlando Bloom is on screen it makes me wince because he cannot act and he gets paid a *lot*, so yay for good acting.) I loved Mr. Tumnus, he's my favourite. I though James McAvoy did a great job :) It makes me want to go back and watch the BBC version of it.

Now I want to see it again. Damn you! I also do not have a Narnia icon, which means I need one. *goes off to Photoshop* I do, however, have a Christmas icon. Actually, I have two. I don't need two.

And oh, I saw David Tennant in something the other day. *has worst memory ever* He was kinda adorable. Yay for Doctor Who.

It was good, much better than it might've turned out. :) The battle scene did have LotR elements though I guess LotR redefined what a battle scene i supposed to look like, so maybe every battle scene ever will remind us of LotR from now on. :) I was terrified that the kids would ruin it all but they were fantastic. If you do see the HP films, skip the first two - Daniel Radcliffe is as wooden as plank all the way though. -_- Orlando Bloom really cannot act, though it's interesting to see him get just a little bit better with every film he does. He might even have more than one expression in the next Pirates of the Caribbean. :) I had a wtf moment when Mr Tumnus first appeared because the only thing I'd seen James McAvoy in before was Wimbledon and it took me a moment to get that out my head. ^_^ He was fantastic though, I was so impressed. I've never seen the BBC version of LW&W, though I love the Dawn Treader one.

Heh, that's me, tempting 24/7. ;) I loved it even more the second time, so it might be worth seeing it again; it might be one of those films that improves with time. I have room for a Narnia icon now! Yay! A christmas icon too, I'll have to get working with my shiny new Photoshop. :D

YAY, David Tennant love! See, tempting. ;-) He was in a BBC thing called 'Secret Smile' not so long ago, so it might've been a repeat of that? He is kinda adorable, I can't wait for the Doctor Who christmas special. :D
