Technology woes. Again.
Dec. 19th, 2005 01:30 pmComputer still flatly refuses to acknowledge our internet connection, despite my best efforts. -_- Add to that the fact it has no Word on it yet and my cd of Microsoft Office is back in Lancaster, along with my Photoshop cd, and I'm seriously considering packing the whole thing up and letting it sit in a corner until I get back to Lancaster. Even though a niggling little part of me is wondering how it's going to get along with the notoriously finicky university internet setup if it won't even work with ours.
The only thing saving it from a good kicking right now is that the Sims 2 runs much better on it than it does on our old computer and really, that's not a lot of help to me most of the time.I think it might be an IP problem but I've no idea how to sort it actually it's not, I fixed that and it still isn't working, so I've been sulking instead. That at least, I can do. ;) I just want it connected the internet, please. For godssake, why do they have to make technology so useless?
But apart from wanting to go back to Lancaster to fetch my cds when I haven't even been home 24 hours yet, all is okay. Casper missed me, I think. :) He came and climbed all over me this morning, which is unusually affectionate for him and, after snuggling a kitten small enough to sit on the palm of my hand all weekend, it's quite a change to have the great big fluffy lump that is Casper walking all over me. I think I like Casper better. :)
I have a mountain of bags to unpack and stuff to do and instead I'm sitting here messing around with the computers. *sighs* Suppose I should go be useful somehow. Just a question of where to start.

(It is. :) Thought it was best to give that one in case people's stuff arrived after I got home for Christmas.)
