Well the reason the flag won't fit is because I bought a giant poster of Central Park when I couldn't find my old posters and I love it too much to not have it up for now. So I've got as many posters up next to it as I can and I've got about three, plus lots of smaller pictures, that won't fit and yeah, I'm thinking of rotating around whenever I get bored. Flatmate suggested I hang my flag across the window like a lot of other people have - there's a Canadian flag in the room across from my window :D - but I like looking out my window at the people doing silly things outside too much.
I'm just happy I don't have much white wall space left anymore. It didn't really feel like *my* room before but now it's perfect. :D
Plus, the sun will bleach the flag ... if you get any sun that is. if not, you should be safe.
Probably teh safest thing to do, as long as you make sure not to lose the posters you want to put up later. Personally, am still trying to decide where to put Andy, Roger, Mardy, Rafa, and Marat posters sister bought me for birthday. Where I can drool all over them but they won't get damaged and we don't have to take down any of the LotR posters. Hmm ...
Ah, hadn't thought of that. *snuggles her flag protectively* We've pretty much seen the last of our real sun 'till next spring, apart from the odd few days here and there, but I'd rather not risk it.
:P I didn't lose them, I just... forgot which safe place I hid them in. ;-) And you have tennis posters?!!! From where?! Over here all I can find is posters of ugly footballers. And if I can fit... *counts* eight posters in my tiny room, including a giant one that's more than twice the size of the others, then you must have room. :) Then again, poster placing is a serious decision. I swear, I must've spent two or three hours 'decorating' this afternoon.
It's actually kind of funny, because here you can tell which side of a flag has been facing the sun. :)
Sure you did. *rolls eyes* Sister bought them for me from the horrendously overpriced US Open store, but they're the same posters I didn't have room for in my luggage home from Montreal. We also have Carlos and Juanqui and the Bryan Bros.
And it is a very imporantant decision because tape does not stick to my walls, so I have to tack them up and that's just a pain in the ass.
:) That's so cool. A lot of the stuff on my windowsill fades in the summer but I wouldn't think we get enough sun in the winter to fade things. Hhhhmm. Maybe I should test it somehow.
Yep! :) And ick, why are Grand Slams always so expensive? Wimbledon was just *ouch*. There need to be more cheap tennis posters in the world! That or I need to get some photo paper to print out big pictures of the boys to stick up. Hhmmm. I keep looking for Roger and Andy posters but the only ones I've seen are on websites and too expensive for me. *sighs* Maybe we should write to the players and beg for cheap posters.
I have to tack stuff up too, because tape pulls the paint off and I get charged £16 per wall to repaint at the end of the year if they're so much as scratched. I have to paint over the tack marks before I leave too and I don't know if it's the paint or something but *everything* marks it. They need to invent non-marking tack or self-sticking posters or something. Now self-sticking posters would be *cool*.
Sure. Well, most of the stuff in Montreal was pretty reasonably priced. You could get a travelling coffee mug for $10, which is less than 5 pounds, I think. But things like posters there? Amazingly expensive.
You could do that. Only then you'd be able to see the lines where the pages were joined, and that wouldn't be fun. We need really big paper.
And then they would probably laugh at us, despite the fact that we are poor students and their posters cost more than what I have to spend on food in a week. *sigh*
It's the paint. It's made to come off or be marked because they want to make money, of course. *nods*
Self-sticking posters would be cool, on the proviso, that, like the hanger things, you could pull it off by pulling on a tab and stick it elsewhere.
for the record, I printed my Carlos picture onto a regular sheet of photo paper, and then took a big piece of posterboard to Kinko's copy SHop (I don't know the overseas equivalent of that), and then had then print it onto the big sheet. That might work?
I love posters. I have nine on my wall: two Beatles, Chicago the Movie, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tommy Haas, two plays I saw and Carlos Moya and a really pretty Italian sunset that I bought in Italy last year.
I used to have this Pace flag that I bought in Venice, and it didn't fit on the walls, so I hung it in the window. Could you try that?
ok, so I'm stupid and forgot to read the comments above. Could you hang a poster on the back of your door?
ooh! I hung Carlos on my ceiling for a little while so that I could see him when I went to bed and woke up (ALAS I AM A STALKER). Try that?
And I use really heavy duty duct tape on my walls. The basement in our dorms are really humid, so anything else makes them fall off and curl. I could take a picture and show you, if you want sometime.
So...
