clo_again: (Andy/Roger - smile like you mean it)
[personal profile] clo_again
"One reporter tried to help Andy look to the future, likening this upset to Agassi's in '93 where he returned the next year, unseeded to take the title. Andy paused before smiling, "I hope I'm seeded next year! Lets not get carried away here, I lost a match," he grinned, "That would be great," he said about taking the title in 2006. The smile didn't last long, but is was all you needed to be reassured that he was still the number one ranked American men's tennis player..."

Sometimes reporters can really prove my low opinions of them wrong. I'm glad someone was there to get a smile out of Andy. *pets the unnamed reporter*

My house is very hot right now. It feels like I'm trying to breathe syrup. *fans herself* I might disappear downstairs to watch Lost and cool down a little before carrying on with the catch-up.

*hugs Andy*

And yay for the unknown reporter!

*helps to hug because he needs it*

I was happy someone was there who cared, since we couldn't let him know how much we do.

Wow, that's really surprising. Most of the reporters are complete slags. I'm glad at least some of them are trying to cheer him up.

*nods* I usually hate reporters. This one was apparently a cut above the rest. I'm glad he had someone there making the effort too.

Unrelated note, I giggle every time you say slag. British slang, taking revenge for American TV making me say awesome all the time! ^__~

I think I've just had enough of them giving Andy a hard time. It's about time someone shows him the respect he deserves, I mean, it's not like he's had a horrible year. Reporters are raving all about James Blake when he just got his second career title, and Andy has what, four or five this year? Come on now.

XD I think I abuse the word slag far too much. I called my mother one the other day and she just stared at me with this blank look on her face. British slang is so much more hip than our regular old junk. :)

Exactly. Andy's back to being fourth in the world for crying out loud; it's not like he's slipped to twentieth, or a hundred. I hate that his win over Hewitt was treated as something shocking, when it really just proved how much hard work he's put in this year. He's working so hard and they can't seem to appreciate that the only reason he's not winning Slams is because Roger's around.

*dies of giggles* You called your mother a *slag*?! Probably a good thing she didn't know what you were talking about then. :-D I don't realise how much British slang I actually use, until I read lists of British words and go "Yeah I say that... and that... *and* that... pretty much the whole list..." 'Bugger' is my favourite right now, mainly because it's so satisfying to chant over and over when everything is going pear-shaped. *grins*

You know, that's one of the things that blows most about Andy losing so early. He'd just gotten the third spot back and now, right down to fourth. Poor dear. :( I hate that it was treated as some amazing feat too - it was amazing, but he'd been working up to it. I've been saying all this year that his game is just in a transition period. He couldn't just stay where he was at, that didn't work against Federer. But yet, the reporters are so willing to harass him about how he's going to beat Roger, when he's trying. It's not going to just magically happen over night.

Yes, I did. I've also shown her the two fingered salute several times, since she has no idea what the hell I'm doing. I think she thinks it's a peace sign. :D I'm not really sure how many words I've stolen from you guys, I use them so often that they're just apart of my vocab. I don't use bugger though, but maybe I'll start. It has a nice ring to it. Bugger.

I'm hoping for Lleyton to lose early, so Andy can bounce back. Marat's not exactly a threat right now and Rafa's way ahead in second, so it looks like Andy and Lleyton fighting it out for third place for the rest of the year. *sighs* And absolutely, the match was stunning but it was just all the work coming together. He's so smart; he seems to know exactly what he needs to do but exactly, none of the damn media are giving him the time to let it pay off. He's probably played Roger more times than any other one person in the last year, which proves he's good enough to get there. I swear he'd have been twice Wimbledon champion now if Roger wasn't in the picture, and that's not exactly a bad thing.

No way? I have to resort to the Friends version of it, tapping my fists together, when I want to do that to my parents without having my head bitten off. It's no fun inventing these things when we can't use them. :) And I talk more American than British at times; I had to *make* myself say 'trousers' instead of 'pants' the other day.

Bugger can be applied to so many things. :D Plus it's not quite as bad as shit or shite in my parent's view, so I can get away with it when they're around.
