Never thought how few of the guys on tour actually speak English as a first language. *muses* Of course, you've got to add people like Roger and Marat, who can speak it just fine, and then people like Rafa, who can probably just make themselves understood. But, interestingly, how many of the guys he's named speak a second language, French or German or Spanish? I'm not sure. *pokes the English-speaking guys* Make a goddamn effort! Which reminds me that I have to catch up on my Italian practice today, for the first time in almost a year.
He also didn't name Mardy in that list, except the 'couple of American guys'. -_- Irrational thing to be annoyed about I know, but still. Gggrrr.

I'm hoping that Lindsay and Lleyton, you guys are familiar with the ad campaign for the US Open Series, which is generally "The Real World" reality TV concept. With that, the general idea of the top 16 players living in a house together just kind of cracks me up. How do you imagine it would be if you were all living in one house together? "
Oh god, I wish I wasn't so backlogged with fic right now. Oh man. That would be awesome. If anyone wants the plot bunny take it; if not, it'll go on my list for somewhere down the road. Because... *giggles* I want to see the top sixteen players living in a house together. Though that would cut out Mardy and Tommy and quite a chunk of our group I guess... *ponders*
Anyway, stuff to do, things to accomplish. Going to try and do them, since all I've done is chores this morning. *sighs* Funfun.

Date: 2005-07-29 11:19 am (UTC)It really is what gives English-speakers a bad name abroad. *sighs* Apparently the English at least are disliked in Europe, or some parts of it at least, because they so rarely make any attempt to communicate in anything other than English. And then compare that to Roger, giving interviews in three languages or Marat with his insanely fluent English and Spanish plus Russian... the English-speakers really should make more of effort.
Though of course they could be making the effort without us knowing about it, so I guess I shouldn't write them off completely just yet. There's an Ask Andy question; do you ever make an attmept to speak the language of whatever country you're in to the locals?
Oh yes. *glee* Fights over the TV. Fights over the bathroom/s. Fights over what to have for dinner. Just fights in general. It would be *awesome*. And that would work... we could always give it a short of 'draw the short straw, you get in the house' storyline or something, rather than just the top 16. Because I really would want Mardy in there. ^__^
