ahiru: "I think it'd be amusing if JKR wrote a bunch of alternate endings for the final book with different pairings, giving each copy of the book a different ending but not telling anyone about it. You'd have people yelling that Ron/Hermione is fianlly canon while the Harry/Hermione shippers argue that no, their ship is very clearly canon now, while others swoon over the moving scene where Harry and his CAPSLOCK OF RAGE consumate their love. Everyone would be wonderfully confused and wanky for a good while before they figure it out, and even then there'd be constant arguments about which ending is more canon. It'd be lovely."

I want to write a series that becomes insanely famous and do that to the ending now. Then sit back, watch the internet and cackle.

This also reminded me that I'm going to be picking up my copy of HP6 on Saturday and I may disappear for a while in fear of spoilers... however it'd be really awesome, just so I can check my LJ every once in a while, if people would LJ-cut spoilers for it. Please?

And now an envelope from Canada has just arrived at my door so I'm off to squee. :D

That would be hilarious! I've always wanted to write a really famous series so that I could see if people wrote any fanfiction about it. Knowing my luck, it'd just be all bad fic.

*nods* After reading author's FAQs on their websites, where the answer to 'Can I write fanfiction based on your works?' always seems to be "No", I vowed to become as famous an author as I could, just so I could answer that question with "YES!! Please do!" I'd love to know people were writing fanfic based on something I'd written. Though I'd probably be afraid to read it because yeah, the amount of bad fic there'd probably be... *winces*

Exactly, so many authors say no to fanfiction and I just don't get it. I think it would be neat to see what other people's takes were on parts of the story, what kind of ideas it gave them. Not to mention, it'd be fun to see what pairings they put together. But I guess I'm biased, since I write it myself.

Exactly - they seem to think it's an insult when really, they should be taking it as a compliment. *shrugs* I think it's a lot of the 'old school' authors who are fiercely against it though, or so it seems - in ten years or so, we're going to have people who've grown up writing fanfiction publishing books and welcoming fanfic about them with open arms. Or at least I hope it's like that. :)

And I would love to see the pairings, especially the slash ones. *giggles*

I now have an idea of what I should do with "Southside." I should totally write three or four different versions of it and then post each of them a different place (at The Asylum, the Pit and my fic journal). Just to see what happens.

I gave Lilly ideas of how to torture us with fic.

...Merc is going to kill me. *cries*

You are evil. Inciting civil war amongst the Inmates or something. ;-) S'not fair.

What? Just because one version will kill Tori, one version will kill Molly, and one version will kill Jericho?

What? I mean, it's not like I tried to kill Edge in the original or anything...
