Officially pissed off at Wales' goddamn stupid heatwave now. It's been unbearable for the last few days - it's now getting on for 9pm and it's still hot enough to walk through the streets in a bikini - and still be too hot. Britain is *never* this hot. It's making me tired and giving me a headache, though that may also be from caffiene deprivation since it's too hot for coffee. Though Starbucks frappuccino. Mmmmm.
On the plus side, went shopping today. Spent waaaay too much money but my brother took me too Forbidden Planet, the awesome comic book & collectables shop. Wanted to get the first Sandman book, since people have been telling me to read them forever, but they only had two upwards, damn them. So I got Endless Nights instead on the theory that it looked like a nice introduction to the 'verse and if I don't like it, at least the artwork is gorgeous. Brother can buy me the actual series for birthdays and Christmas for the next five years. Also picked up a few postcards, some Welsh-y stuff for various people, an Idlewild album since it was on sale and they were good last night... just general stuff. Am now broke for the rest of the summer, but! I resisted the cutest chibi-style plushie Jack (from Nightmare Before Christmas) in Forbidden Planet, which took some willpower. The Dogma t-shirt with a cartoon Loki and 'Mass genocide is the most exhausting activity one can engage in, next to soccer' on it took even more.
Am broke. Must remember this and not run back there in the morning to empty my bank account.
Saw War of the Worlds too and was mightily impressed. Effects were awesome and there seemed to be little of Hollywood's heavy hand on it... not that I've read the book, so I can't really judge. Obviously it was an updated version anyway though, so I'm not sure it would have mattered so much.
Anyway, all in all, today has been fun. I'm just looking forward to going home tomorrow and having a long, cold bath. I've been dreaming of one all weekend, in this insane heat. *sighs*
Anway, all is well in Cardiff. Probably will post tomorrow before we go for the train.
