I keep waking up and staring at the clock, thinking it must be time to get up. *sighs* Still, it's good to be getting more sleep. I might not fall asleep in Philosophy again today. :-)
Feel better this morning. Hopefully everything'll be fine 'till Friday. It all just got to me yesterday. *snuggles everyone again* Love my f-list. ^__^
I made no comment on the election of the new Pope yesterday, really because I had nothing to say. All the news channels were complaining that they'd wanted someone more progressive. *blinks* This is the Church. What did they expect, the new Pope to come outside in ripped jeans and a Greenpeace t-shirt declaring undying love for gay people? No offense meant of course, but there was never - will never? - going to be a Pope like that. *shrugs* The way things are.
If I just offended anyone, sorry. Unintentional.
I want breakfast and to do some Philosophy reading and then to go shopping for very late birthday presents after my seminar. *ponders* I think I am in need of a little retail therapy, I'm just debating what form it should take.
Later,
Clo

Date: 2005-04-20 06:25 pm (UTC)Faith should be individual and personal, based on ideas and not belief. If you think condoms are wrong then fine, that's your idea and you don't have to use them. People who don't particulary want more children, in an already overpopulated world, not using condoms because an institution run and controlled by fallible people says they shouldn't? Wrong.
... And this is why I say don't get me started on religion. -_- I never shut up. Suffice to say I don't agree with organised religion and never will.

Date: 2005-04-20 09:50 pm (UTC)On my news channels, they were all "Oh, how approproiate. he's going to be such a great leader!" *flips them all off*
And on the condom thing... it's a Catholic overall thing. Supposed to be one of the big rules and whatnot. *rolls eyes* No contraception of ANY kind. At all.
ANd this is why I no longer practice my religion. *kicks the Catholic faith in general*

Date: 2005-04-20 11:52 pm (UTC)I still say if men had to have the babies then contraception would practically be a law. Hell, they'd probably find a way for God to have invented it in the Bible. -_- They really need to take a step back and think about what they're rambling on about sometimes.
I'm unspeakably relieved I was brought up without much emphasis on religion. (Though if I ever do say something that annoys you, feel free to tell me to shut up. ^__^ I tend to get a little carried away.)

Date: 2005-04-20 11:59 pm (UTC)I completely agree. If only they thought about what they were saying... then think abstinence is the only birth control. *kicks religion in general*
You're very lucky. I was baptised, raised catholic until I was old enough to make my own choices. I admit freely that I still go to church when I visit my grandma, but that's more for my mom than anything. I don't believe what they say and spend most of the time trying to think out plots for fic. *giggles*
Nothing you could say would offend me or annoy me. I don't much believe in religion. *shrugs* It's not such a bad way to do things.

Date: 2005-04-21 01:32 pm (UTC)*sighs* Trouble is, no one ever sits them down and *makes* them think... and no one with an open mind ever seems to get to a place where they can make the difference. *kicks them too*
I didn't realise how lucky I was until a couple of years ago but now I'm hugely grateful. It's made me think that kids shouldn't be exposed to religion until they *are* old enough to make up their owns minds. *shrugs* I think trying to explain that to religious families is probably fighting a losing battle though - you can't really tell people how to raise their own children. *sighs*
There's a running joke that I'll burst into flames if I step foot inside a church. *giggles* Hasn't happened yet but I don't like to push my luck too often.
That's good. I do tend to let my mouth run away with me sometimes. ^__^ I agree - I'm perfectly happy bouncing through life without religion. Makes it all much simpler. ^__^

Date: 2005-04-21 05:38 pm (UTC)THat's exactly the problem with religion. They're so set in their ways that no one can tell them anything because everyone else is always completely and totally wrong. It would be best if people waited until kids were old enough to make their own decisions but it goes back to that whole they're always right, we're always wrong thing. *shrugs*
*grins* I'm surprised sometimes that I haven't... but yeah, I don't press my luck too often. :-D
Life is much simpler without organized religion. *nods*
