"We write to advise you that we will be carrying out an inspection of your study room and communal areas in your flat, between the hours of 2:00pm and 4:30pm on Thursday 10 March."

This is good news in two ways - one, I was expecting them to just show up with no warning, leading to a frantic panic to hide the fish, and two, I'm here at that time Thursday so I can protest my innocence in person over any real or imagined flaws in my room.

This is bad news in that we aren't allowed to have pets and said fish are bouncing happily around in their tank right now, so some way to hide them will have to be devised. It is also bad news in that my bathroom door has warped from the water and the paint is flaking off, and the wall by my door was painted badly so all that paint bubbled up and flaked off a while back. And all my white acrylic is at home so I can't even improvise to cover it up. -_- However I'm going to report the bathroom door - which clearly isn't my fault - before Thursday, go into town quickly Wednesday afternoon to pick up some paint (which I so cannot afford but better than getting fined I guess) and stick a towel over the fish before stacking CDs in front of them. L suggested I just move the tank under the bed, but knowing my luck the inspectors would want to see under the bed if I did that, not to mention moving the very heavy tank would be close to impossible. So I'm going to make sure everything is clean and shiny and sparkling then distract them with the bathroom door problem (they're supposed to be checking on maintenance problems too) before they can get close enough to wonder what's being hidden on the shelf. *crosses fingers* There's a girl next door with an even bigger fish tank, so I'm not the only one. Suddenly I'm glad I didn't sucumb to temptation and get a rat... though I guess that would've been easy to hide under the bed in a box. Hhmm. Something to think about for next year.

So that was a nice letter to come home to. In other news [livejournal.com profile] liroa15's making-out-on-the-couch plot bunny has been gnawing like crazy on my foot all day and I might even be getting somewhere with it, debatably. I'm going to see if I can finish it before I start my Philosophy, so I can spend a good three or four hours bashing my way through all the revision before getting an early night. Because five hours sleep last night was not good for me, oh no. *yawns* Will be trying to catch up on comments I owe people inbetween but that might be wishful thinking. I know exactly what the first week of Easter holidays is going to be spent doing...

Okay, off to accomplish something. For once. :)

"the wall by my door was painted badly"

Go complain that too. Their fault, not yours. My room has a big crack in the corner. Things like these are expected in new buildings.

"to hide the fish"

Stick a box in front of them. They can't really go poking round with your stuff. I wanted fish, but I, but I want Siamese Fighters, and wouldn't like to risk transporting them between home and here. There's even an old fish tank at home I claimed ages ago. Hmmmm.....

Siamese Fighters plural? Now that could be interesting... ;) I'd love guppies and neon tetras but I can't be bothered with the proper tropical tank. Not to mention transporting them would be a nightmare, good point. I'll stick with nice easy goldfish. :)

Box was the plan that was winning until a girl next door said she thinks it's only people who've had letters who are getting inspected - and Kayleigh in the room next to me hasn't had one, so they'll probably end up getting hidden in her room for Thursday. ^__^ Just *typical* they'd pick my room with the most wrong with it. *sighs* :)

I think I will have to complain about the wall. It's so annoying. >_< Still, you're right about the new building problems, so they can't blame me.

"Siamese Fighters plural?"

A male and 2 females. Only the males fight, with each other and angel fish, etc.

"I'd love guppies"

They'll live quite happily in either cold or tropical. :-) I'm pretty sure on that. Useful the stuff you pick up when your relatives take you round looking at fish and stuff because you've got nothing better to do and they're putting a tank together.

"Just *typical* they'd pick my room with the most wrong with it."

Isn't that a good thing? As long as you get the stuff fixed.

Aaahhh. But then you'll have little baby fish. Which leads to much more fun. ;) (I experienced Lucy's fish!craze back in high school. The worst part was when we found the frog squashed on the floor. o_O)

Really? Ooooo. *plots* I love guppies. They're so very pretty and I could fit a few in with Gonzo and Rizzo... oh very tempting.

True, but it also means I'm most likely to get fined. *sighs* And I so cannot afford to pay anything, least not until after Easter.

... Suddenly I'm not so keen on the idea of guppies... *thoughtful* ;)

*giggles* Running around killing each other sounds like human intelligence to me. ;)
