Quick question;

Is 'smart arse' an exclusively British expression? Would an American say it?

This is one of those random 2am questions that seem to make very little sense isn't it?

I'm sure I've heard American's use 'smartass' a few times. If it helps at all it's a common Aussie expression. Like wombat. *smirks*

Yeah. Americans would use "smartass." Also possibly "jackass," "asshole," or "son of a bitch."
