Yes I should be sleeping.
Nov. 23rd, 2004 03:14 amBut I can't. I tried. So I'm rescuing flatmates from Flatmate of D00m and making my Christmas Wishlist instead. So, for the
holiday_wishes project:
1.) This one is probably obvious from my entries recently, but tennis slash. Preferably Andy/Feds, but anything you want, so long as it's tennis and it's slashy. I love this fandom. Getting it out the kiddy pen of fandoms this Christmas would be wonderful, and to do that we need more fic.
2.) Anything purple. Purple Christmas cards, purple graphics, purple socks, purple pens, purple icons, anything physical or CG as long as it has purple as its main colour. :-)
3.) Christmas cards. There is nothing better for me than getting post, and my flatmates are amazed when I get letters from around the world. ^__^ It makes me happy. If not physical ones, then e-cards are just as good. :-)
4.) Someone to help me make my LJ look pretty, with customized layouts and so on. I paid for it, so I want to use it. I can make the graphics and everything, I just need to know how to set it all up. (This one may have to wait until December 11th when I'm back home and have the time. ^__^)
5.) Snow. Please.
6.) Anything with cinnamon in it, recipes - actually I'd *love* recipes for cinnamon cookies or something like that - or anything that smells like cinnamon, or hell, post me a jar of cinnamon sticks. ^__^ I'll be happy with anything.
7.) Recommend me your favourite type of coffee - preferably instant/cafetiere since I don't have any way to grind actual coffee beans. It'll be a wonderful excuse to have a coffee tasting over Christmas, since I really need to find my own favourite coffee.
8.) A decision on whether or not to really go to Canada next year. This is huge and I want to have decided for definite by Christmas. EDIT: I just realised I should clarify this - when I say 'go to Canada', it's not just for a short trip, it'd be to spend my second university year studying there. I could just about afford it but it's really the distance that's making me hesitate. From Lancaster to Canada is a *long* way, further than I've been before, and I'm still uncertain I could do it.
9.) Someone to play chess with. Any chess, anywhere. I miss chess.
10.) For all my f-list and their families to have a happy holidays and a fantastic New Year. :-)
If you want to post me things, my f-list can find my address here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/clo/180015.html#cutid1. I *will* only be here until December 10th, so anything sent after December 2-3rd from a long distance away probably won't reach me in time. If you really want to send me stuff after that, email me for my home address. I'd really prefer not to give my address out to none-friends though. :-)
Email me at: imaginary_immortal @ hotmail.com.
Whoa that was complicated at 3:30am. And now I desperately need sleep if I'm to accomplish anything tomorrow. I promise to look over everyone's lists during the next few days - probably with more enthusiasm after my Philosophy test a week Wednesday ;-) - and do my damndest to give people a happy Christmas.
A Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
Clo

Come to Canada...
Date: 2004-11-23 04:09 pm (UTC)This message is completely unbiased, despite the fact the author is Canadian and really wants you to come to Canada so postage costs her less. *snorts*
Re: Come to Canada...
Date: 2004-11-23 04:20 pm (UTC)If I don't come for uni, I'll see how plausible a summer trip is, but that may have to wait a couple of years yet.
And postage between continents? Ouch. I should come; think of the money I'd save on postage! It'd pay for my entire year studying. ;-)

I made a few this morning, took less than an hour. They smell great, look awesome, and make great little gifts.
And re: 8: I love Canada. I'm biased, because, you know, I was born there, but it really is a great place, and even though it's far away, it's a great country to be in. We have peanut butter kit kats. A country with peanut butter kit kats can't be bad. And All Dressed Chips. Mmmm. Tasty. :)

Date: 2004-11-24 02:39 am (UTC)Peanut butter kit kats?! Ok now I'm jealous. We don't get peanut butter kit kats. *adds it to the list of 'Go to Canada for...'*
Thank you! ^__^

Anything basically with a pretty banner at the top and like yours centered in the middle of the page would be fantastic. :-)

Date: 2004-12-02 11:26 pm (UTC)Here is a fantastic cinnamon recipe. Unless you don't like lamb... I hope you're not a vegetarian. In case you are, maybe it can be modified.
Brown 3/4 pound of lamb, cut into little chunks smaller than an inch, in the bottom of a stock pot. Take it out and put it on a plate after about seven minutes on medium heat. Put a chopped onion and garlic to taste (like, five cloves or more) in the pot and sautee them until the onion gets kinda golden. Add a can of chicken broth, a can of diced tomatoes and 3/4 of a cup dried lentils. Also add about a teaspoon each cumin, turmeric, ginger, salt and pepper, if you've got some. Dump the lamb back in the pot. And now... add... -a cinnamon stick-. Bring this to a boil, and then reduce the heat and simmer it for about half an hour, maybe forty-five minutes. Chop up two zucchini into small chunks while you wait, and dump them in at the very end. Cook it until the zucchini is soft, then pull out the cinnamon stick. Squeeze a lemon in, and serve.
Tastes great, and the whole house will smell of cinnamon while it's cooking.
