That Seether's Broken appears to be in iambic hexameter. Maybe. And that you can tell flatmates you have a deadline in less than nine hours and you need them to go away but they'll drag the leaving process out for another twenty minutes.

I haven't been this completely at a loss with an academic assignment since... since maths in high school. I don't think.

edit: I quit. A few scrawled lines but only two people have submitted -- which I hope means at least a few others are as helpless as me -- and you know it's time to go to bed when you argue with yourself over how many syllables are in "thousand".

It's so different to fic and prose; when you start writing that, you're positive you're the greatest thing to ever happen to the universe. You're the next best seller, even though you've handwritten five pages in unreadable childish scrawl. Later on you learn that in fact, you were just a terrible as anyone else but at the time, when you scribble that first story, you're good.

Poetry, not even close. Maybe all this structure will be good for me. Maybe it'll drive me insane, who knows. Maybe it'll kick the January writer's block I'm stuck in, which i have to admit would be very nice at this point.

Sleep would be nicer though. The struggle will re-ensue tomorrow.

Went to sign up for rooms an hour ago. We went so early (a) because we wanted to avoid the massive queue and (b) because The Dragon has this rule of only four signups per flat and we wanted to get in before the two Cypriots who don't speak to us. Not really fair, I know, but it was us who fought for a five person flat last year without any input from them and we figured it was their turn. So, rolled out of bed at 8:45, only to have A knocking on my door to tell me said aloof Cypriots had already gone down to queue. So ensues half an hour of silent panic when we ended up waiting just behind them in the queue, thinking we were going to have to watch the two of them sign up for our flat and leave me, A and K with either a big fight to get in or the option of moving somewhere else. Only for me and A to walk into the office as they were signing... to hear them say the name of a completely different block of flats. They don't even want to *be* in our flat next year.

That half an hour of panic was Fate making a snide point that we shouldn't try to go behind people's backs, I swear. But anyway, apart from me -- spectaculary foolishly -- writing the wrong student number on my form, which I'm not even dreaming of going to fix today because Dragon is liable to bite my head off, it's sorted. Back in my room for another year, with K next door to me and A down the hall. Which leaves an empty space for L if she wanted to sign up.

It's too early for all this. Ngh. If this post made any sense then I'll be surprised.

Because I was quite bored earlier... )

Going to miss Hamster tonight because me and [livejournal.com profile] wolves8 are going to yoga in the sports centre. Never done it before but I talked about doing it it all last term and I guess you have to start somewhere. It's good odds on me falling asleep mid-stretch though, I'm really not quite awake today.

Also still have to write a poem later. -_- Maybe before House, so I can enjoy the new and shiny snark without thinking about poetry.

And also also, flat situation for next year is looking... promising. Saying nothing more until it's definite because I'm not counting chickens, but I hope it all works out.

Alright. Yoga. Who thinks I'm going to regret this?

I think I just ruptured something I was laughing so hard.

I'm *so* glad I didn't miss Hamster into a sumo suit. Oh god. Can't breathe. Laughing.

Hhmm.

How much am I not loving the new House theme? I loved the old one, what was wrong with keeping it? Ggrrr. Love the new series though. Hee, snark, how I've missed thee. Though sometimes I wonder why I love a show that makes me go "ewww" so much.

How can you tell [livejournal.com profile] clo is avoiding doing some work? Well, her room is clean and tidy, the fish have clean water, all her washing up is done, dinner was planned in advance and finished exactly to coincide with the beginning of House rather than the usual five minutes into it. She's ordered a DVD for a flatmate due to play.com being an arse and managed to remember [livejournal.com profile] hill2k's birthday.

Mmm. I do love a shiny, clean room.

Yeah. The poetry is a ways from being done yet. We're disregarding the whole fourteen and a half hours behind the deadline though you see, because deadlines, pfft. Who needs them?

Um. Yes. Going to work on it now.
