I'm happy again! Must have been having caffeine withdrawal last night.

I'm home for a few hours in between lessons. We had Media first thing and me + Marc were out with the DV cameras, making fools of ourselves basically. Only Marc's doing Graphic Design next year which doesn't give him time to do Media...... so I've been abandoned. *mourns the days of Charly, Lora, Marc and fish* Looks like I'm the only one to survive to A2 Media, though Marc's trying to film his coursework over the summer so he'll be doing the exam, just not the lessons. *sighs* He did give me the address for rocktoons.com where he has some pictures up. *melts into a little puddle of envy on the floor* I have to admit he really shuld be doing art so I can't be sad about him abandoning me in Media. Hey I used to have a 'Lora, Marc, Clo' "Beware the fish" icon..... I need another one. With googly eyed fish on it......

I read the spoilers for Angel last night and I really shouldn't because it utterly spoiled the surprise. Though I was mildly grossed out by the demise of Jasmine. Connor kinda redeemed himself in my eyes.... sort of. I think. Still I'll be glad to see less of him next year. Give me Angel+Spike+a room+oil = A VERY happy Clo......

HOPEFULLY (note the emphasis) I should get my OotP book in the post tomorrow. But, knowing me....... If I haven't got it by Monday I'm staying off collge to read it. Oh! That reminds me; in English an hour or so ago, Jan overheard us discussing Harry Potter and said she didn't think it was well written, as say, Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials trilogy - it was just fun and superficial. Now personally I disagree with that completely - Northern Lights etc is very heavily steeped in religion, philosphy and the "Big Questions" whereas Harry Potter suits it's genre far better - it's kids books with the complex plotting of an adult novel. Northern Lights in my opinion isn't a kids book unless the kid is fairly advanced - too much of the plot would go straight over their heads. yet Harry Potter *grows* as it continues - you can actually feel the more adult theme in each book and to have true character growth is *excellent*. Most books, especially fantasy, will have a third person narrative, or a POV description SAYING how much a character has grown - Harry Potter doesn't need it to be 'staed' you can see with simply the way the characters speak and act that they're growing up. It's well written enough to have complex plots that are marvellously apparent when you've reached the end. Jan said they're full of cliches; she said it's like every children's novel cliche has been collected and put together. Where is Harry Potter cliche? *looks confused* Sure Northern Lights deals with issues that affect our world but HP deals with issues that affect *his* world... apart from the immediately obvious cliche of good vs evil, I'm at a loss for what she was on about. Then again she really *loves* anything to do with religion and Harry Potter just doesn't have that aspect so maybe that's why. Personally I'm of the opinion it is VERY well written and I've always thought so. Hey look, I've found another topic to rant about - this ranks up there with my 'Hate-Arwen' rant and 'Girls-Are-As-Good-As-Guys' rant.

I think that's about ti for now...... I'm going to go and finish Traitor's Moon when my brother kicks me off the computer in about five minutes. I need to finish it before OotP arrives *crosses fingers* tomorrow.
