Various things...

Finished my Philosophy essay = YAY! Realised after I'd forgotten the Bibliography and kicked myself but it was a text-specific question and I had footnotes, so forgave myself again. Creative Writing next and I know what I wnt to do but I need to wash hair and have food first so I have no excuse for distractions.

[livejournal.com profile] liroa15 the .jpg killed the quality of so it's not really usable, but it's really size testing; is it big enough, not big enough, does the writing get cut off and so on. Once I know what size I'm working to I can do some proper ones over the next week or so, in between English essay and Bounty. :-)

Other than that have had a fairly dull day - woman wasn't there when I went to ask about studying abroad so I need to email her instead and I found out that flights to Canada are horrendously expensive. Think I should start saving now if I ever want to go. ^__^

Need food, since I've been living on cup-a-soup and sugar all day. Ah, the life of a student.

dead I don't think I want to see it alive, otherwise I'd be dead.

Okay, this is what the test has concluded.

1) If I use the portrait layout, which is the paper as you'd normally look at it (8.5X11) then the 'e' of close gets cut off.

2) If I use the landscape layout, which is the paper on its side (11X8.5) I only get the top portion of the words 'my eyes'.

3) This is a very contrary program, ARGG!!!!

So... it needs to be around 50-ish pixels smaller in either width or height depending on which layout you use... do you prefer portrait or landscape?

Note to self: 447x500 in portrait, 500x447 in landscape. Got it.

We'll get there eventually. ^__^ Do you want each picture themed to a month? Snowy-blue colours for January, red-orange colours for September, October and so on, or just random graphics?

Oh, themed would be nice. I hadn't even thought of it, really. Right now I just want them to work! >_

Okay, attempt two - this *should* be landscape, even though it looks square.

I was also working along a January theme this time. ^__^ If it works let me know and I'll get a .bmp version to you to use, through email or MSN or somehow.

If not... back to the drawing board. ;-)

I think it's just taking off the tops of the first and last lines of text, but am unsure because preview is very small. Am printing it out now to see if this is the case.

This graphic is enough to make me like snow though, but I think it needs to look a little more like a rectangle. We shall see though.

Yep, we've got half of the first line and half od the last line. Need to change the dimensions again. But I want this to be in the calendar so bad.

Although, interestingly enough, if I make the picture the full page the bottom of the word 'snow' goes and the top line of text still gets halved, but I've got the whole bottom line.

In completely unrelated news, this program is driving me crazy!

*dies of giggles* This program is deliberately trying to drive us nuts!

But you like this sort of picture? I can easily reproduce these two once we get the dimensions right; it's the working out which pictures, lyrics and colours to use that takes the time. :-) (I did spend hours looking for a big picture of Andy with his tongue sticking out to match the lyrics but couldn't find one I liked *sighs*)

I'll try 500x380 this time. If that doesn't work maybe I should stick a thick, plain border on the top and bottom, so it just cuts that off and leaves the main graphic? Worth thinking about.

This is such a good excuse to mess around on Photoshop. ^__^

Test no... three? I don't really like how this turned out but it'll do as a test piece:

Spring themed. ^__^ Thought it would be around Spring that Andy would get tired of never beating Roger and Roger would get tired of winning Andy never being able to beat him... hence lyrics. ;-)

THIS WORKS!!!! It actually works! Am giddy with the excitement right now. Now if only you can make the snow one this size.

Have now arbitrarily assigned this picture to April, which is when spring really starts here. I think the corners of the word untouchable might be getting cut, am printing now to verify, but it still looks amazing.

Also, sister points out that we need a front page.

YAY!!! ^__^ Works!

*adds front page to list* Anything in particular you think we should have on it? A title? Certain colours? Hhhmm...

Well, we should definitely have a title, something to do the the Inmates 2005 Calendar, but beyond that it doesn't matter at all to me.

:)

And YAY! Works! You have no idea how happy I was to see that.

The border thing might be a good idea. I loved the last one you did too, the red one. That'd definitely be a portrait one though, as it's taller than it is long.

And as long as it's an excuse for something besides aggravation I'm happy.

Even if it's working, should I try the border anyway? Or does it work fine and we don't need it?

*wanders off to redo the red and snow ones*

I think that we won't need a border, unless it suddenly betrays me, yet again!, and starts cutting pieces up. In that case, I shall let you know, after I kill said program.

Hehe okay then. :-) Borders are the easiet thing in the world to add, so it'll be no big deal if we do need them.

Well, that's a comfort at least, as nothing else has been easy.
