So I've got as far as a very-hasty LJ layout fix (the colours will not last I suspect, but I came up with a really pretty idea for a header last week, didn't scribble it down and now haven't got a clue what it was, so this is it until it comes back to me) and this is not going to be a post of substance other than that but my work contract finished last Friday so I have no excuse not to catch y'all up soon. Other than, you know, my limitless procrastination.
I'm surprised by how much being an aimlessly unemployed bum isn't really fun anymore. Not getting up at 6am is nice, and being able to sleep for most of the last two days when I haven't exactly been feeling like a million bucks has been lovely but...I miss having the motivation to get up and do something. And I miss the money already, dear god do I miss the money. Weighing up my need for shoes and DVDs against the perils of my overdraft is about as fun as it was for my six months of being unemployed last year, which is to say not at all; I need to find something soon. But something not crap. At this point it'd be really nice to have a job that I need to actually engage my brain to do.
I'm going to go fall asleep watching the tennis now. It's 1:55am, I should really go to bed, but moving sounds like effort and it's very nice to have the tv all to myself. Even if I am chosing to enjoy that by falling asleep on the sofa. Mmmm.

Date: 2011-07-09 01:52 am (UTC)Plus we can have our July meet up - what do you fancy?

Date: 2011-07-09 09:32 am (UTC)YES. I've been meaning to email. *facepalm* Right, well I have to be in Lancs at 1:30pm on Tuesday 26th July (to sign on the dole, hah hah, sigh) so we could meet up in Lancs? Did you want to come back to mine for a night to have a Psych S5 marathon, because we could do that Tuesday night? The trains will be running again then; no more buses adding an hour on the journey. \o/ Alternatively if you can't make it up here, I could head down to Manc any day but the Tuesday (under the rule that I do not do lots of shopping that I can't afford. ;-) )Or we could just pick a random place somewhere in the middle and have a spy-esque meet-up in a random coffee shop. ;-D So! Any of that sound good?

Date: 2011-07-09 11:25 am (UTC)Tuesday the 26th July I am not actually in Lancaster, amazingly, so wouldn't be there for an easy meet up. However, the idea of a Psych marathon sounds amazing, so perhaps I could just grab the train up to you, and then travel back - on the Tuesday or the Wednesday? Would it be an overnight thing?
Otherwise, you could maybe come down to Manchester and we could look around and I would keep you from spending all your money in Lush and then we could bring the Psych Marathon to my house? I don't really mind, so just let me know what you think :D

Date: 2011-07-09 08:37 pm (UTC)Overnight is what I was thinking, to give us time to watch all that Psych in between travelling and possibly to nom all those pineapple cupcakes. :D So any of those days is good if you wanted to come up, or I'm happy to come to Manc and visit Le Casa Jess! Train tickets between here and Manc are really not expensive; it's the money I spend when I get there that can be worrying. ;) Can you play region one DVDs? My laptop can but he's a bit of a beast to lug anywhere with me. >_<
...So we're both happy either way. Possibly we now need to flip a coin. ^_^

Date: 2011-07-09 11:20 pm (UTC)I don't know if I can play region 1 DVDs, actually, so it's probably come to you? I was thinking I could either head to yours on the Monday (25th) and then head home as you head to Lancs on the Tuesday (26th), or come up on the Tuesday after you're done in Lancaster and head back home on the Wednesday (27th)? Which train station would I be heading to?
Also, then it gets rid of some of the temptation of shopping in Manchester! Just let me know which sounds best to you! :D
Eta: just remembered that I need to getting car's MOT sorted that Monday, so the Tuesday to Wednesday plan will probably be best for me! Might depend slightly on when I get my car back, but shouldn't cause too many problems. So, thoughts? :D

Date: 2011-07-10 10:06 am (UTC)Having a laptop that plays any DVD is wonderful, except I have no idea what I'll do with all the R1 dvds when my laptop eventually breaks (please don't break now! I'm not tempting the universe!) Either of those things sound great, so whichever days look best for train fares. It's Grange-Over-Sands you're heading to - not sure which station you're coming from but there's always some cheap fares from Manchester stations. Just go for whichever train is cheapest and we can work around it. :D I need to be in Lancs for 1:30 on the Tue and should be finished about 2/2:30 hopefully, so I can either meet you in Lancs or Grange if you do Tue/Wed...would we rather be lazy in the morning instead of thinking about getting to Lancs for 1:30 or would it be good motivation? Hhmm.
That does limit shopping temptation! (Grange has er, very limited shopping options) but I'll have to head down Manch way again soon (I'm actually coming on Thursday to show my Aussie friend around/watch her shop while I Do Not Spend Money and so we can meet another internet friend, so if you're around? :D)
\o/ I am excited for this plan! I haven't watched any of S5; it's sitting on my shelf being all tempting. :D

Date: 2011-07-10 11:51 pm (UTC)Well, considering I am putting my car in for it's MOT that Monday, I will say that I could come up to you for the Tuesday/Wednesday? Just because I like the option of being lazy in the morning, and not possibly making you late for your appointment :D
I've looked at some train prices, and to get the super cheap tickets I can get to Grange-over-Sands at 16:38 on Tuesday 26th, and then leave G-o-S at 15:53 on Wednesday 27th July. That way I am there and back for less than a tenner, so can't complain! Do those times sound ok to you? I can always look earlier/later, so I'm not imposing on you for as long?
I'm actually in Lancaster this Thursday! So can't do Manchester then, but I am sure we can plan out a shopping/browsing visit when I see you next? And perhaps we could even have a writing session in person? I don't know how it would work, but we need to go go go to hit our Christmas deadline! :D
I am excited too! Psych is always amazing fun to watch :D \o/

Date: 2011-07-12 10:40 pm (UTC)That sounds awesome! :D It gives me loads of time to head back to Grange on the Tue to meet you there and since you're not imposing at all, that's totally fine for the Wed. :DDD We do have plenty of Psych to watch to fill the time too!
Ahahaha, that's some epic fail!planning from the universe. ^_^ Planning in person sounds good, along with a writing session - I'd definitely feel guilty about getting distracted if you're there writing, so I am all for it. We can see how it'd work when you're here. :D More motivation!
:DDDDD \o/

Date: 2011-07-13 12:25 am (UTC)Right, well, good then! I have bought my tickets just to make sure I am getting the best possible deal (ahh, planning ahead), so I will see you at Grange-Over-Sands train station on Tuesday 26th July at 16.38pm. Whoop whoop! Plenty of time for Psych :D
I know, what are the chances! But yeah, we'll get something planned, and if I bring along my 'novel notebook' we can at least get some planning done! We can sit down and guilt each other into planning/writing... and perhaps, between us, we can not be constantly distracted by LJ/fic/Psych!
So, another meet up all planned out! Well done us :D *\o/*

Date: 2011-07-13 09:13 pm (UTC)Hurrah, ticket-buying makes it official! It's written in my diary and everything. Lots of time for Psych accompanied by pineapple-y-themed snacks! I'll see how many pineapple-y things I can find between now and then. :D
*facepalm* I think the universe likes to mock us. We could try maybe an hour where we sit down and write, or break it into fifteen minute mini word-sprints or something? It'll definitely be better than me sitting here with OpenOffice open but aimlessly clicking through Wikipedia or refreshing LJ.
\o/ Rock on our epic planning skills!

Date: 2011-07-14 03:09 pm (UTC)Yes, it is very much official! It's on my special summer holiday calendar, so there is no turning back now! Just let me know if I need to bring anything - I'll also look into pineapple themed foods :D
Yes, maybe like half an hour of planning then half an hour of writing? Maybe throw in some discussions/critiques? Like you say, I'm much more likely to do something if we are both sat there guilting each other into it :D
We are awesome at planning :DD
