Life continues to be fine. I continue to spend too much money that I should be saving, fail at writing motivation (and indeed motivation for anything), watch too much TV and go to Pets At Home once a week to spend fifteen minutes talking to the rats and thinking wistfully what I'd name them if I knew I'd be in any place to look after them forhowevermanyyears. Sigh. I did almost adopt a dwarf hamster named Milo today but I have no idea where my hamster cage is.

(I may yet look for it and go back. He was adorable and his last owner didn't want him. Sadface for tiny unwanted hamsters.)

...That's pretty much it. I'm not so much with the interesting right now. Oh [livejournal.com profile] jesse_kips! I'm planning to head to Manchester in the evening of Tuesday March 1st to see Jasper Fforde talk in Waterstone's (assuming I can still get a ticket! I need to call them). Don't know if you could make it but Jasper's awesome (I can't remember if I recced you his books? You totally should read them; it's like crime and literature and humour and you will love them) and worth going to see if you can make it. I'll be getting in about 5:30pm anyway, so let me know if it's doable for a meet-up. :D

...Yeah, that's pretty much it. As you were, y'all.

Ahahaha, writing motivation, remember when that existed?? Clearly we need more than a deadline for a draft - perhaps we need to somehow recreate the seminars of the good old Crew days? Can this be done? I have done a bit more research, but not really any writing... ahhhhhhhhh!

And Jasper Fforde! You did recommend him to me, yes - I have three of his books on my (huge) to read pile. That sounds like it would be awesome! What time does it start? Only I'll have work until 6, and then would have to get into Manchester... so it's likely I might not be able to make it... let me know. Otherwise, I assume we are still on for the 19th March? And possibly crossing paths at Frankenstein?

Yes. Vaguely. It feels like a long time ago! I don't know; we'd need a few more people and I don't know if it'd work without the threat of George looking at us disapprovingly if we failed to submit anything. We could print out a picture of him, draw angry eyebrows on it and stick it on the wall maybe. :D (I've done nothing. I'm only barely making progress with fic, which is easy in comparison. *woes*)

It starts at 7pm; is that enough time to get there? :-/ It would be awesome if you could make it! I can stick around a bit after to do dinner or whatever. We're definitely still on for the 19th but I don't think I can make Frankenstein if I want to get back for work the next day because I don't think I'd make the last train. *wistful* I wish it was showing in Lancaster. Damn you Vue.

A very long time ago. Hmmm, yes, I could see it being hard to actually force ourselves to do the writing without George there to frown on us... perhaps we could have to submit to each other? Or, like, just have something on googledocs? A wordcount or something? I don't know! (Ugh, I know. Nothing. I did have a little Sherlock fic splurge last month, but that's all died down until another prompt hits me. And it is so much easier!! *woes with you*)

Right, well I finish at 6pm, but I might be able to get out a bit early, but then I'd need to decide on bus or drive into Manch (driving would be easier, but then I need to actually drive and park in Manchester, at night, which might be... nightmareish!!) Which Waterstones is it at? I assume not the Arndale one? Ugh, I would really like to go, just don't know if I would make it!! And you really can't make it to Frankenstein? Lame!

Have somewhere to upload say 1000 words of something a week or every other week you mean? That could work! Would it just be original or fic too? (I suspect I'd be inflicting tennis slash on you with fic; the one I'm working on now is over 20,000 words but that's taken me since about December). I have all the ideas and just no motivation. >_< Think I could do with some deadlines again, just to make me sit down and stop being distracted by internet.

It does sound a bit of a rush. :( But it'd be awesome if you could find a way (I have no idea about driving/parking in Manchester so can make no helpful suggestions. *woe*) It's at the Deansgate one which googlemaps puts a few streets over from the Arndale? I really can't. :( If it was on a Friday night I'd probably just stay over but I can't really afford to miss work the next day. I want to hear about every little detail of Cumberbatch's amazingness though!

From: [identity profile] jesse-kips.livejournal.com
Yes, something like that! Like, we could start off with 1000 words every couple of weeks, and then build up to more as we get more motivated (hahaha). Perhaps have that as original fic, and then set another limit for fic? (and the type of fic doesn't matter much to me, as long as I would be helping to motivate/guilt you into writing!!). Yes, deadlines are very helpful things, really, and when just giving them to myself they are easy to break, because it's not like a real deadline. This might help!

It really would be awesome if I could figure out a way to go - the only place I know how to get to for parking is the Arndale carpark... I will look into it and let you know! Maybe, if nothing else, I could meet you afterwards and we could grab a quick bite to eat?

Such a shame that you can't make it! I will make lots and lots of mental notes about Cumberbatch and share them with you, don't worry about that!!

Easing ourselves into it is definitely a good idea. If we're doing a deadline for original though, I might have to wait and see how I manage writing fic as well; two deadlines might be too much (though I expect having a deadline for original wil just make me write fic instead because my motivation likes to be contrary ^_^). It's a good idea though! I haven't used Googledocs hardly at all; do you know how to set it up? Or I can poke it at the weekend.

I called to reserve my ticket today and it sounds like there's still quite a few tickets left (it's £3 but you can get that off the price of the book if you buy it there, so it's not so bad). My lastlast train is 22:20ish (I was thinking of aiming for the one before at 20:46 but can stay later, no prob!) so I should definitely have time to meet up after! I hope you can find a way to make Jasper though, mostly because I want somone else to flail with over his awesome. ^__^

Why couldn't they do it on a Friday? Or show it in Lancaster?! Woeface. I'm excited for Cumberbatch observations though. :D Sherlock feels like forever ago! Need moar Cumberbatch please BBC!

That's fair enough - although we could say 1000 words of original every two weeks, and the same in fic each month?? Or we could just wait and see what we have time for - I also imagine that fic will become even more tempting now! Googledocs is very easy - if you are logged on on Google, you can just click on it (on the more menu) and then create word docs which can be shared with other users. I don't know all the details, but we should be able to share with each other, so we can make sure we are sticking to deadlines!! (My google address is jessrigby@googlemail.com). I have tried to share something with you as a test, so feel free to mess with it!

Yeah, I'm very much hoping to be able to come! Just need to figure out the parking situation, and how long it'll take me to get there! I may have to ask around at work, so might text you on Monday if that's ok? I know it's short notice, but I'll most likely appear in Manchester at some point, even if it is just for a catch up afterwards!!

Can you not get that super late train home for Cumberbatch then?? It is a shame it's not on a Friday, but I will make many mental notes for you! Sherlock was far too long ago now, we need more! But, just think, when he's done with this in May, they start filming it again! :DDDDD

That sounds good; I think if we have something aim for we should at least get some words done (and we won't get kicked off Googledocs if we don't make every deadline. ;) ) I will investigate Googledocs then! (My googlemail is cloudymagicjh at googlemail.com.) I've added to your shared file so hopefully I've done it right and you can see it? There's lots of option but it looks good. Ah Google, is there anything it can't do.

That's fine! I have my ticket and everything so I'm definitely going to be there. Just let me know whn you know if you can work it. ^_^

I looked at times and that train does leave about twenty minutes after Cumberbatch ends but I'd have to get from cinema -> station and it's a live performance so I expect someting will get delayed. :( Next time BC does a play we'll have to try to get tickets to the real thing! MOAR SHERLOCK. I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE HOW THEY RESOLVE THAT RIDICULOUS CLIFFHANGER. *flail* It needs to be here now!

Yes, it will be nice to have a deadline which isn't just in my head and therefore very very easy to ignore. I do have an MA assessment due next week though, so we might have to start the deadline from next Wednesday? Because it is super eating my brain. Googledocs looks good, yeah, and I managed to get into the document again and see your edits, so that's very good indeed! We can now judge each other's work, but very nicely!! Google is awesome, isn't it?

Right, well, I was in Manchester on Saturday and I bought my ticket to Jasper Fforde. If I can get the bus which leaves my work at 6, then I should be in Manchester for half 6, and at the shop for quarter to. So, you might have to save me a seat? And I'll text you my progress :D WISH ME LUCK!!

Ugh, that is so annoying! But yeah, you wouldn't want to miss the last train home because something ran over time. LAME! Ha, yes, I was all ready to head down to London before this cinema showing appeared so I am RIGHT THERE WITH YOU! Live show or bust.

MORE SHERLOCK! I am very excited, although they best not do anything to break my heart in this next series!! I just want gloriousness and happy Sherlock & John times :D

Are you ever going to finish Frodo the Dark Lord? *puppy dog eyes* And I'm dying to know - given some of the stuff we've discussed/written/shipped.... Special Hell? I'm dying to know!

*woes* I SHOULD. I've only got like 200 words of it but it doesn't need to be that long. Hopefully I'll be inspired on my next LotR rewatch (uh, not that I know when that will be. Definitely sometime this year.)

Um. Well, I'm hitting incest and underage (fifteen - which is legal in Serbia where it counts but still feels underage) in one fic. Oh and there's a threesome thrown in for good measure. Mmmmmmm, special hell. The flames are so pretty.

(In my defence, here's a youtube vid of the two brothers in question from a few years back (the first forty seconds or so are the important part). That is some serious Inappropriate Brotherly Touching. And they do it all the time. I mean. Yeah.)

First up, you totally don't need to defend yourself to me :P
Secondly, *jaw drop* Holy freaking crap. That is a really snuggly pair of brothers. Like.. REALLY. Not that you needed to defend yourself to me but... WOW. And by all the time... you mean... ALL THE TIME??

Heh, I need to remember that you're ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE for my slash addiction and everything therein. ^_^

ALL THE TIME. EXHIBIT B:

(That picture is from December 2010 and is The Reason I started the Special Hell fic. It's also the background on my phone. I love it. ALL THE TIME, NO JOKE.)

Jesus Christ. So even though I only really have a passing interest in the tennis fandom, I'd like to let my icon say it all :P

I'm sure I meant to buy you a drink for it when I was in Oz. Next time!

Bwahahaha I'm trying! I've already written some of it but it's mostly not to the Wrong parts yet. Must write faster! Do you want it when it's done? ;-) (Er, it will be long. The first section of four isn't done yet and it's over 20,000 words).

Oooh there'll be a next time? :P

YES! SEND! PLEASE!! (There's a joke about length here, but I'll leave it alone)
