Today I met up with [livejournal.com profile] make_a_move in Lancaster, stole £2 from her and went to see Watchmen. It was awesome (Watchmen, not stealing her money ;) ) which was nice when I went into it expecting nothing other than superheroes. I love superheroes so ridiculously much so I thought I'd enjoy it regardless but then there was unexpected Jeffrey Dean Morgan and A History of America with added superheroes! and Rorsach, who I agree with [livejournal.com profile] make_a_move is fantastic even with the ridiculous body count. It was definitely worth the ticket price, even if you're like me and had never heard of it before the movie trailer.

The weather was gorgeous too. I do actually like the spring weather before it turns into summer-hot; I couldn't help thinking it's going to be odd switching to Australia weather in a week (in a week. I know, where did the time go?) BBC is telling me it's still pretty warm out there or you know, warm for me.

New Zealand looks a lot colder already though, especially down south. Hm. Maybe I'll pack a few warmer tops than I thought.

In shiny!news for Australia, I finally followed up a thought that's been nagging me for days and tried a different permutation of destinations for my New Zealand flight. I had an overnight stop in either Melbourne or Sydney anyway, and it finally ocurred to me flights to Alice Springs from Melbourne are so cheap, it might be cheaper just to book a flight to Melbourne and do the Alice Springs leg myself because the dates were proving fiddlesome anyway. And lo, behold, it's over £100 cheaper (that is without the extra night of a hostel... but I'm debating what I can bribe [livejournal.com profile] irradiatedsoup with to be an appalling houseguest and turn up for two nights in a gratituous haze of flail, disappear to the Outback for three days only to turn up again like a bad penny and pick up the flail where we left off for another few days. I'LL BRING YOU BACK A PIECE OF AYER'S ROCK? :D Except, I'd probably be shot for that. Or eaten by the specially trained ninja!kangaroos they obviously keep for such ignorant tourist situations.

...I'll bring you back a ninja!kangaroo?)

Pleased with self now. I knew there was a reason I hadn't booked my flight yet. Now I just need to pick a definite date to fly out because I don't know if a week in Brisbane and with [livejournal.com profile] acityofwonder is enough but if I leave it the extra day I may as well leave it two days after that or spend two days wandering around Auckland when the only thing I want to see there ia the museum, so that's kind of a waste of a day. Mmmm. Also [livejournal.com profile] acityofwonder I want to do Australia Zoo while I'm in Brisbane and they do run a whole bunch of trips up there, but would you know if it's easy enough to do on the train? Some of the bus trips aren't terribly expensive but I'm going to be spending so much time on buses, it might be nice to switch transport for a day.

In less shiny!news, My YHA card still didn't arrive this morning. They said seven working days and it's now been... six? I'm only hyperventilating a little.

If your mail is like my mail, seven working days means 8 working days! *nods* So don't panic until... after 8 days. *pets you*

Saturday is not technically a working day, despite the fact that everything is open.

Also, we should live closer together. Maybe one day I will just move London to be within 30 miles of Cumbria.

That's true and I had mostly stopped worrying... until my parents came back from Wales today bringing all the post, including my YHA card. I did give them my new address as the delivery address but they'd sent it to the payment card address instead. Sigh.

But it's here! :D All is good!

Oh crap. At least your parents had gone down there and brought back mail. Now you're all good. *pets*

It's okay, they'd sent it to the address for my Visa instead of the delivery address. Thankfully my parents were going down anyway this weekend and picked all the post up, so it's all good. :)

We should. :( It'd be so awesome to be able to meet up and go to the Yummy Cupcake Cafe. I was about to say it'll be easier when I move to Cardiff but the train times between London-Cardiff and London-lancaster aren't actually that different. -_- Someone should just invent instant teleportation already.

...I didn't just have to Google that to work out what it meant. Really. Um. *facepalm* (I'm gonna be so confused when I don't have instant Googlation on hand. ^_^)

Hurrah! I tried to work it so I wasn't disrupting your life twice but the Alice Springs flights weren't co-operating. Looking forward to hanging out and Who/TW flailage in person though. :D

Awesome. :D So, you leave in like a week and are still planning? *giggles* So cute.

Yeah but the stuff I'm planning is still like five weeks away so it's not so bad. ^_^ I pretty much know what I'm doing when I get there (except where I'm meeting [livejournal.com profile] chickybee32, which could be interesting.)

So basically, once you get there, you'll still be planning? And you're gonna have fun with Merc regardless of the when and where.

Everything should be sorted by the end of this week. I can't decide whether it's better to book all my NZ hostels or leave myself more room to stay an extra day here and there if I like the look of a place. But if I leave anything more than that unplanned I will end up uselessly lost and confused, so no. All sorted before Sunday. :)

Okay. Good then. I don't want you lost in the Outback somewhere, unable to find your way home. I need my Hel.
