Dec. 10th, 2008 02:33 pmWent to Boots for my lunch today, knowing I'd bought five meal deals with my (mother's) Boots card, so I'd get today's free. Had this exchange at the till:
Boots Lady: Okay, that's £2.99.
Me: ...Is it not free today? I thought it was, but I tend to lose count.
Boots Lady: Oh it's... *stares at screen* Hang on.
Me: What?
Boots Lady: Apparently I owe you 6p.
Me: ...Bzuh?
Boots Lady: ...Damn VAT.
So I went in to buy lunch in Boots and THEY PAID ME 6p INSTEAD. Am officially Paid to Shop. Awesomest. Lunch. Ever.
And then I went to the post office, which cost rather more than 6p. Oh yeah. But, despite being somewhat floored by the postage, managed to post
scoobydumblonde's box and I have a tracking number so it will damn well get there or I'll know where it went missing and who I need to go threaten with rusty spoons. Or at least if they do lose it I can claim all the money back this time and just rebuy it all and resend it. If at first you don't succeed... It should also get there a little faster, in theory, but I trust the Christmas post about as much as I'd trust a smiling crocodile with large pointy teeth, so watch this space. And
scoobydumblonde, let me know as soon as you get it? Otherwise I shall be stressed and have to shout at customers to calm down, until I am fired. ;-)
I was served by Roger, my favourite post office guy too. Despite being called Roger he looks more like a tiny, slightly-wizened version of Terry Pratchett, wears a large metal hoop earring and tries to avoid sticking the postage stickers over any crazy things I've drawn/stuck on the packaging. I'm very fond of him. I hope Cumbria has awesome post office people.
Okay, apart from
chickybee's card because I need to bug her for an address, there's just my UK Christmas stuff left to send and I have plenty of time. On the flip side, I've bought none of my family's presents yet. Hm. Maybe there's only so much Christmas organising that I'm simultaneously capable of.

Date: 2008-12-10 11:21 pm (UTC)Yay! :DD Well Airsure takes 1-2 days less than normal international post, so maybe 4-5 days? I'll check the tracking every day and let you know if it looks like it's getting there; it hasn't left the country yet so we have a few days.
