WTF just happened to The Shoebox Project? Okay so it hadn't been updated in like a million and one years but seriously, deleting everything? Uncool. It all seems a little bizarre to me, what with the alternate link not working and everything. Seriously, looks like hackage if anything. Why would anyone be so cruel as to hack something so awesome? Wtf?

I've had a strip of the handdrawn pictures from that thing (Sirius/Remus done in the style of a strip of four photo booth pictures) printed out and stuck to the side of my bookcase for years. The side of my bookcase that is now covered in at least three layers of pretty pictures, postcards, labels, leaflets, cartoons and tickets but was, when I stuck that Shoebox strip up, pretty near a blank side of wood.

I will be sad if Shoebox has gone forever. It's way too awesome to be gone from the Interwebs permanantly, but I guess I'll just wait and see. If it's hackage and everything's been deleted... that's a lot of reposting. A lot.

On another note entirely, today I bought my first Starbucks from our very own brand new Starbucks in my own town. It was a vanilla latte and it tasted all the better for all the years I waited for us to get a Starbucks.

All those years and our house goes on the market tomorrow. There's some terrible irony in there somewhere but damned if I can see it.

eta: Just case you hadn't realised (like uh, I didn't) DON'T. CLICK. THE. "NEW" SHOEBOX. LINKS. No one's reported any problems so far but [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge has pinpointed them as the same/similar person who hacked his LJ and there were keyloggers hidden in those links. He has a helpful post with even helpfuller comments here with What To Do If You Clicked (so much for the nap I was planning to take... I kind of like this keyscrambler thing though. It's fun to imagine how much it'd piss the hackers off as I watch nonsense scrolling across the top of my screen as I type).

Hopefully I haven't destroyed poor Harry the Second already. He's so young and innocent. Also, I don't think I could take it if I had to give him back and get Harry the Third because, seriously. There is only so much laptop trauma I can take.

eta: Because good things can come from disaster, all of The Shoebox Project in .pdf. pretty.

eta: All my scans (yes I ran three different ones, shutup) came up clean and I am going to bed.

I could totally do with it being the weekend tomorrow. Ngh.

Yeah, looks like it's been hacked; all of [livejournal.com profile] dorkorific's entries have been deleted as well (apart from one linking to the same mysterious Russian website), and [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida has been kicked off moderator status.

This displeases me. (And I'm slightly worried by the fact that I don't know what the hacker's motives in posting those links were.)

Much with the suckage. Shoebox was a really amazing thing; I can't imagine how anyone could want to hack and delete it. Bah. People can be such bastards.

I also clicked them automatically thinking "MAYBE THERE WILL BE NEW SHOEBOX" and am now kicking myself for missing the obvious "i haz been haxored!"ness of the post. I only got an error page though, so I'm crossing everything that I haven't screwed up my new laptop as soon as I've got it.

There should be somewhere to gather and flail about our uselessness in clicking random links and the possibility-of-no-more-Shoebox-ever, because hopping around random LJs to follow this is already getting confusing. I'd suggest that LJ need a thispersonhasbeenhacked community, only it'd probably get hacked. Which would at least be funny.
