Jul. 9th, 2008 07:30 pmI buy a lot of papers over Wimbledon. It's the one time of the year that the British press actually dedicate equal space to tennis and football (and there's a lot of football), so I like to make the most of it. So there's a stack of at least twelve on my floor that I haven't gone through yet and another few downstairs. When I got home from work today, a fortnight-old copy of The Guardian was dumped in my lap and an irate parental demanded that I actually take what I want out of some of these damn papers so she can throw them away.
Tucked away in the corner of the G2 section I found, hilariously,

Hee. I knew he reminded me of someone.
I'll also post the beautiful 'vintage' picture of Roger I got from The Times yesterday. Actually two copies of it, because I wanted one to cut the picture out and one to keep the article that was on the other side of the page. He's in the cardigan but he does look very pretty.

Sadly there's a picture of Centre Court on the back of the page and that's the edge of it clearly visible through the thin paper. Nevermind. He's still pretty, even in The Cardigan.

Date: 2008-07-09 07:55 pm (UTC)(and I read a hell lots of news articles regarding THE final since sunday... I don't know why, it's hurts that Roger lost and I get fed up with how some journalists said this is the end of the federer era, but I just can't seem to stay away... )

Date: 2008-07-10 02:56 pm (UTC)(I'm like that. I can't look at the pictures of Nadal biting the trophy without much wrathful flailing but I still went out and bought the papers on Monday. Poor Roger. It breaks my heart that they're so quick to write him off, especially considering how close that match was.)

Date: 2008-07-10 03:55 pm (UTC)I strangely don't feel any annoyance/anger/hate towards Rafa. In a way I'm kind of ... relieved, if you can say that, that it is Rafa who defeated Roger. He's certainly a much better option than Novak...
I dunno, to me Rafa is endearing in almost like a little brother-like. Hahaha perhaps it's because I have a younger brother that's as old as he is :p..
So yeah, I don't feel any dislike for Rafa, but so much sadness for Roger. He looks just .. heartbroken, so hurt, so lost during the press conference and.. gaaah I wanna cuddle hiiim! I really hope now he will win the US Open.
(And really saying that Roger's finished when he still got to the SF or AO - even with the illness - and got the the final of practically every tournament he entered ... are those journalists thick or what?? It's been a disappointing year for Roger, but no way in hell he is finished.)
