Things that make me sad about Stardust: I still think it's daft that Captain Shakespeare could teach Tristan to swordfight so well but didn't even try to defend himself from Septimus. I'm okay with the whole, uh, "whoopsey" thing, though I suspect they thought it was more high-larious than it ended up being, but I don't like that he didn't defend himself. It's- illogical. And makes him more of a joke and less of a rounded character, I think.

Things that make me happy about Stardust: everything else. I love it. Except, I keep forgetting Septimus is a heartless bastard and I shouldn't feel sorry for him. Dammit. I just love his black and naughty evil.

Hey, the thanks at the end have Pen y Fan, Wales in them. They filmed some of Stardust in Wales? I should be *informed* of these things for purposes in no way related to stalking Charlie Cox. Ahem. The DVD looks really classy too; I don't know why it surprised me but it did. It's all silver and understated, when I was expecting a reprint of the cover and bright colours. The class was ruined a little by a really tacky 'Coming Soon!' screen before the menu but one of the coming soons was the Spiderwick trailer and I forgive them for the tacky because I hadn't seen it and now I'm excited. Yay!

As you might be able to tell, I bought Stardust even though I said I wouldn't after LoM. Because it was only £9, and because my main entertainment for four and a half hours this afternoon was wondering how best to whine to y'all about the twelve hundred pages I photocopied and stapled. And then rechecked and restapled because I'd stapled some of them wrong in my boredom. And this morning? I stuffed two hundred envelopes. And then stamped them. Individually. And then ran them through the postage machine. Individually. I am so the office grunt. I'm not even a grunt; I'm like a... a freaking whimper. The people are nice and they keep promising Better Things but I have doubt. Because, grunt.

My mood is not improved by the fact that I keep catching my fork on my fillings when I'm eating and metal on fillings hurts so sodding much, it's not even funny. Stupid dentists. Stupid teeth. Goddammit. They shouldn't even use metal, because it expands and eventually breaks your teeth anyway, but it's the cheapest. In the end, it all comes down to money. Why am I rotting my brain photocopying? Money. Stupid money.

Dude, I should not be sulking this much with Stardust and the last episode of Life on Mars dangling like a particularly tasty carrot until the end of the week because I don't want to watch it and have it be over. And a four day weekend only two days away and three weeks to London and [livejournal.com profile] kindoftrouble and musicals. Which I will have money to enjoy because I am rotting my brain photocopying.

Lesson: sulk less. Be happy more. And maybe axe-murder a dentist whenever it all gets too much.

I think the main reason he couldn't was because he didn't have a sword handy. Also, corsets are extremely restrictive.

The most terrifying thing to remember in regards to dear, sweet Septimus is that as he was the youngest, he some how managed to survive everyone else's attempts to kill him from a young age.

I just wanted him to fight back. He could've smashed a lamp over Septimus' head or at least stuck a hair grip in his eye. I know the pirate persona was meant to be just that, a persona, but it just sat uncomfortable that they'd make him useless because he likes wearing dresses. Also? That scene would've been infinitely more awesome if he'd actually had that line about corsets at some point. ^___^

I know! He must've been the most terrifying child ever born and he deserves everything he gets, only... he was so good at being evil that it made you want to root for him. He was smart and brave and ruthless. I'm always sad to see characters that are so good at being bad get killed. *wistful*

Oh the fight scene could and should have totally been done better, but I think I can logic my way out of it.

Septimus is so competant and lovely and blatently responsible for selling Una into slavery.

Housemate got me to watch 'Sixth Day' (the Arnold Schwarzenegger cloning one) and it has the most wonderful competant evil villain ever. I want to have his little evil babies.

so it'll be worth it that I ordered it at work and may end up paying close to $25 for it?
